    Introduction:  From about 1700 CE until 1880 CE warfare was practiced with firelock small arms complete with socket bayonet.  Improvements were slow in appearing the greatest of these being rifling toward the end of the period.  Dense masses of men met on the field of battle, maneuvered in precise movements into position to deliver a heavy fire of wildly inaccurate volleys.  Cavalry was crucial for scouting and was able to deliver devastating melee attacks using swords, lances, and musketoons.  Artillery was a musket grown to the size of a church bell with some specialty ammunition.  Fife & Drum is a simple, fun, easy to read, fast playing toy soldier game of tabletop mayhem during this age.  Fife and drum is designed for 1/72nd miniature armies that give the panorama of those long ago wars.  Play is quick, easy to learn, last about an hour to an hour and a half and is different every time it’s played.
