Creating Love

About this ebook
Candice enjoyed spending time with her grandma and creating all sorts of sweets and candies. To the extent that she preferred working in her grandma's kitchen over spending time with her classmates and enduring all of the high school drama. To her surprise, she finds that she has been entered into a candy making contest being held by her favorite candy shop, Christoph's Confections. She actually has a spot in the competition, if she decides to take it.
Troy had always enjoyed sweets and candies. To the point that his mom told him he needed to learn how to create them himself or give them up. After convincing his mom to teach him, he attends various classes to learn just that. When he hears about a competition that his favorite candy shop, Christoph's Confections, is holding, he immediately submits for a slot.

Candi
Thank goodness it’s Friday. This week has been so freaking sucktastic. I’m so glad I won’t have to deal with anyone from school for the next couple of days, I think as I head down the street walking home after school. Spring break will not get here soon enough, just three more weeks.
I’m glad that Grandma and I already have plans for this weekend making candy and chocolates. I can lose myself to that and not think about the drama of high school. Grandma always has one group or another that she needs, or wants, desserts or sweets for. So, we have a routine of making a list of what we want to make, shopping for supplies, and then working in Grandma’s kitchen all weekend.
Grandma is always showing me new techniques and selecting recipes that use what she is teaching me. She said something about wanting to do more sugar work this weekend. We did some poured sugar pieces for Christmas decorations which was fun. We can do that again or maybe some spun sugar. Though spun sugar is such delicate work, I don’t know if I’m ready for it. But I would love to try it. I have seen some absolutely beautiful pieces that are more like works of art than desserts.
My grandma lives a couple of streets away, so I get to spend time with her whenever I want. Some of my friends rarely see their grandparents, let alone spend time with them. I don’t know what I would do without Grandma. She has always been a prominent figure in my life. While my friends went to after-school programs, I went to my grandma’s. Once my homework was finished, we would be busy in the kitchen making some sort of sweet or dessert. Some days, we would go to a bakery or candy store, where I would watch them make their treats. On special days, we would go to what has become my favorite place of all: Christoph’s Confections.
Christoph’s Confections has confections of all kinds. They make everything on-site in their kitchens. I remember once when I was young, I needed to use the restroom and Grandma walked me down this long hallway to it. We passed these huge windows and could see the kitchens. I asked Grandma what they were making. She told me that they were the confectioners and chocolatiers who made all the candies and treats for the store. I told her I wanted to do that. She smiled and told me I would need to do good in school and practice. Ever since then, we have been working in the kitchen together.
Lost in my memories, I enter my house and deposit my bookbag on the table. I get a glass of water and sit down to start on my homework. Because I came home after school instead of going to Grandma’s house, I send a text to both mom and Grandma letting them know that I’m home. Mom responds with a smiley emoji and Grandma replies, Grocery shopping after dinner!
I smile and start working on my homework.
Mom and I are cleaning up after dinner, when a knock sounds at the front door and Grandma comes in. Good evening, how is everyone today?
We are in the kitchen cleaning up, Mom. Come in and visit while we finish. Then you and Candice can go do your shopping.
Hi, Grandma!
I say, drying my hands and hugging my grandma. After a good hug, I get back to the dishes, the sooner we finish, the sooner I can go with Grandma to get supplies.
Grandma sits down at the table and starts talking with Mom about their day. We finish the dishes and wipe down the counters. I put the dish towels in the laundry room, that’s off the kitchen, and walk back in, I just need to put my things in my room and grab my purse, Grandma.
Okay, Candice, I will finish talking with your mom while you do that. I think the menu for this weekend is going to keep us busy. A couple of the recipes are a little more advanced. But I know that you can do them,
Grandma states as I walk past her on my way to my room.
"I don’t know if I should be excited
