My Little Book of Hope is intended to give hope to anyone who is an abusive relationship. If an intimate partner is trying to control you then you might be in a domestic/dating violence situation. Domestic/Dating Violence is complicated and requires clarification to navigate through. Regardless of whether a victim chooses to stay or to leave the personal safety of victims and their children should be a priority. Knowing the facts about Domestic/Dating violence is a start. Understanding the challenges and why victims often choose to stay is the second step. Once you identify the warning signs of an abusive relationship you can start to make educated choices about how to handle the situation. Assess your level of danger and have a safety plan in place. If the violence escalates you can exit immediately 24/7. Linking to available community resources will help you and your children begin a new life free of abuse.
