Prologue
Rita Brooks was born on August 17, 1946, in Allentown, Pennsylvania, which is located in the eastern part of the state. It is approximately 48 miles (77 kilometers) north of Philadelphia and 78 miles (126 kilometers) west of New York City.
Rita’s sister Julie and brother Michael would arrive two years later and five years later respectively.
Rita’s mother Alice was from a large loving family, and she wanted more children. But unfortunately for her, she did not get her wish, because her husband Glenn was not capable of earning enough money to support any more children than the three children they already had. And he often would struggle to buy anything special for the children, such as their birthday presents.
Glenn did his best to be a good provider, but no matter how hard he tried, it seemed that the whole world was against him. And therefore he ultimately decided to make
