I was a child, and he was a boy
But our trouble was one and the same.
I sought the answer to the question Why?
He followed his cross in vain.
Beauty and truth we cherished in life
And together our friendship grew.
Companionship changed and turned into love,
A love that is known by few.
All that we asked was to be left alone
Our happiness was full and free.
But a meaning in life brings on envy and strife
And society would not let us be.
Time has a way of healing a wound,
but our trouble is again the same
I seek the answer to the question Why?
He follows his cross in vain.
And that’s the way it was. Danny, the neighborhood boy was a high school senior. He took me into a nearby woods, while the rest of the kids played depression kick-the-can. How could six year-old Eddie know that the game big Danny wanted to play was evil, and that his father would not want him to play? You see, it was 1936 and children mostly played outside. So a routine developed; when the weather was good, Eddie and Danny had two games for fun: kick-the-can and evil in the woods.
For some reason Danny liked to smooch. Well, so did I. After school we often went to our basement for a long session. Maybe boys don’t do that in your book, but we sure had a good time at it. All that stopped, when Danny went to Jail for maleficence.

Before the jail term, my mother was delighted with the friendship I had with Danny. She was determined to let her children enjoy things she couldn’t when she was young. She wanted her children to have lots
