      Rising global temperatures: The average global temperature has been steadily increasing due to the accumulation of GHGs, such as carbon dioxide (CO2) and methane (CH4). This leads to numerous consequences, including heatwaves, melting ice caps and glaciers, and altered weather patterns.

      Extreme weather events: Climate change intensifies the frequency and severity of extreme weather events such as hurricanes, typhoons, droughts, floods, and wildfires. These events can cause significant damage to infrastructure, agriculture, and human lives.

      Sea-level rise: As global temperatures rise, glaciers and ice sheets melt, causing sea levels to increase. Rising sea levels pose a threat to coastal communities, leading to increased coastal erosion, flooding, and saltwater intrusion into freshwater sources.

      Ecosystem disruption: Climate change disrupts ecosystems and biodiversity. Many plant and animal species are facing challenges in adapting to rapidly changing conditions, leading to habitat loss, altered migration patterns, and increased extinction rates. This disruption affects the overall functioning of ecosystems, including pollination, nutrient cycling, and pest control.

      Agriculture and food security: Climate change impacts agriculture by altering rainfall patterns, temperature regimes, and pest distributions. It poses risks to crop yields, livestock productivity, and fisheries, which can undermine food security and increase food prices globally.

      Public health: Climate change can have adverse effects on public health. Heatwaves can lead to heat-related illnesses and deaths, while changes in rainfall patterns can affect the spread of waterborne diseases like malaria and dengue fever. Displacement and migration due to climate-induced disasters also pose challenges to public health infrastructure.

      Economic consequences: The economic impacts of climate change are far-reaching. Extreme weather events result in substantial costs related to infrastructure damage, insurance claims, and disaster response. Sectors such as agriculture, tourism, and energy face risks and disruptions, leading to economic losses and uncertainties.

      Addressing the impact of climate change requires collective action on both mitigation (reducing GHG emissions) and adaptation (adjusting to changing conditions). International agreements, such as the Paris Agreement, aim to limit global warming and foster sustainable development. Transitioning to cleaner energy sources, improving energy efficiency, protecting ecosystems, and implementing climate-resilient practices are crucial steps in mitigating and adapting to climate change.
