Pieces Of Me - Tina Marie Jones
Disabled
I went from working to disabled
I was kicked from society’s roundtable
I refused to be labeled
I won’t sit in that jail
I’ve qualified for full disability
The amount I get hypocritical
That’s my blood, sweat, and tears
Time away from my kids
Then because it’s an invisible illness
I am judged because you can’t see my sickness
Yes, at first I was angry, depressed, wanted to give up
I tripped, I almost gave up
Not all trauma comes from relationship abuse
It’s society’s standards
I am sorry, it’s the truth
I help others that face my fight
I see from another sight
Equality has never been in the program
This I voice like a true Aries ram
I am constantly changing gears
Riding out the programming and tears
Reality is brutal
The truth is crucial
I have reinvented myself
I found my worth tucked away on a shelf
I no longer need approval
Disrespect my struggle, I will remove you
Never judge what you don’t know
I looked to self and found how to grow
My story is one of self-growth
Seen past the programming and hypocritical oaths
I have what I need, and that’s enough
Everyone has pain they hide and don’t discuss
We all have our own unique struggles
So many ashamed, hiding in their jungles
Rise, my sisters and brothers
No longer let your voices be smothered
Mind over matter
Rise, look over society’s clatter
This Is My Life, My Story
You don’t get to write my life’s story
