    About the Author

    Acknowledgments

I want to first start by thanking my heavenly Father, my big brother, the Lord Jesus, and my constant teacher and companion, the mighty Holy Spirit. I thank God for His great mercy that He has shown me. Over a three-year period, the Lord has dealt with me about writing this book. I was sitting in my office one day, and I heard the Spirit say, Write the book.

One year later, I was in a camp meeting, and the prophet of God came up to me and whispered in my ear, Write the book.

The next year, as I was sitting still and quiet, I heard the Spirit of God say, Write the book.

I guess I may be a little hardheaded, but I finally got it. I needed to write the book that God has commissioned me to write. I am so grateful that God is gracious, slow to anger, and plenteous in mercy. I am humbled that the King of glory has chosen me to be one of His mouthpieces in the earth. I want to thank you, Lord, for having patience with me.

To my wonderful wife, my sweet Dee, thank you for every prophetic utterance the Lord has given you for our family. Thank you for being a friend that sticks closer than a brother. The Lord has favored me with one of his best daughters. I love you and praise God for the amazing person you are.

To my momma, Doris C. Brooks, thank you, Mom, for being there for me. Thank you for your love and support and your wisdom and guidance. You were instrumental in me becoming the person I am today. Look at what the Lord has done!

To my firstborn child, Jessica, I praise God for you and the blessing you are to me and your mom. God has truly blessed us with a wonderful daughter who loves God and loves her parents. The blessing is on you, and the blessing of the Lord makes rich, and He adds no sorrow with it!

To my only begotten son, Joshua, who said to me on numerous occasions, Dad, have you worked on the book today? Thank you, son, for encouraging me to write the book! God is going to take you places you haven’t even dreamed about!

To my baby girl, Joanna, you are a blessing to your mom and I, and we praise God for you. You are truly as your name means, Given by God. Your warmth and kindness are always on display, and I am so proud of you. God has great things in store for you!

To my man and woman of God, Bishop Carl J. Vann Sr. and Lady Barbara Vann, I have been walking in the footsteps of an apostle for well over twenty-two years. This book is a direct result of the things you’ve taught me. The things I have learned, received, and heard and seen in you, I have done, and the God of peace has been with me. Thank you, Bishop and Lady B, for the word of God you have ministered to me and my family. I came and received the word; I left and experienced the difference!

Finally, I want to take this time to thank Donzella Washington and my daughter, Jessica, for your superb job of editing and proofreading this material. I am truly blessed by your eye for details. Teamwork makes the dream work!

    Foreword

What an awesome and comforting word in a day when the feeling of loneliness, even in a world of 7.5 billion people, is more abundant than ever before. I am glad that Pastor Robert Williams finally said yes to the Lord and wrote this book. He gives two main reasons for writing this book, which both reflect the heart of God. Throughout the book, those reasons are cast again and again through the Scriptures he shares, the comments he gives, and the anointing upon every page. This book takes us on the journey of God’s love and compassion for us. It is through this personal intimate walk with the Lord that we discover the true meaning of Matthew 10:29–30, Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? And one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

The Lord Is Mindful of Us is filled with biblical understanding of the Christian life in terms of victory and deliverance from pain, poverty, persecution, and perplexity. The Bible shows us that because we live in a fallen world for now, we will contend against the spiritual forces of darkness. You can survive and thrive the adversity in knowing that the Lord is with you.

This book will impact your life. I can completely identify with his message. The blessing of this book lies in the encouragement you will receive as you realize the power you possess to overcome. Pastor Robert Williams gets right to the point and tells how to endure testing times in your spiritual life. The personal stories shared in this book testify over and over again of the truth that the Lord is mindful of us. Every Scripture is contextually sound and exegetically correct. This is a work that I am very proud of and would like to see in the possession of as many people as possible. Every chapter flows from the preceding chapter. It’s easy to read yet profound. Using biblical heroes and heroines and personal testimonies, this book will help sharpen the focus of every reader to embrace his or her destiny.

I thank God for the ministry of Pastor Robert Williams, which has blessed my life and that of my family and church and is reaching out to so many others through this refreshing book. I have known Pastor Robert Williams for over thirty years.

When I first met him, he wasn’t born-again. A short time passed, and when I saw him again, he had found the Lord in an overwhelming way, so much so that just listening to him appealed to something so deeply imbedded in our spirits that we were almost instantly in the presence of the Lord. I am blessed to have pastored him and his family for over two decades. If you long to live in a new spiritual stage of your life, if you want to raise yourself out of the shallow Christian routine to walk with the Lord in His present power and glory, without a doubt, The Lord Is Mindful of Us is for you.

    Bishop Carl J. Vann Sr.

    Introduction

Too many in the body of Christ feel abandoned by the Lord. The enemy (Satan) has convinced them that God has forgotten about them. He is constantly bombarding their minds with thoughts such as: God doesn’t love me. He doesn’t care about my challenges, heartaches, setbacks, and disappointments. To be honest, it can seem overwhelming at times, especially, if you lose sight of the word of the Lord and focus your attention on your problems. In this walk, there are going to be times when your trust and faith in God will be tested.

There are many scriptures that let the believer know that we are going to face opposition in this life.

    Preface

Man that is born of a woman is of few days and full of trouble. (Job 14:1)

This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him and saved him out of all his troubles. (Psalm 34:6).

Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all. (Psalm 34:19)

For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again…" (Proverbs 24:16)

Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. (Matthew 6:34, NIV)

These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world. (John 16:33)

Yea and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution. (2 Timothy 3:12)

Peter best sums up our situation as followers of Christ:

Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you. But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings… (1 Peter 4:12–13a)

The enemy knows his time is short, so he is working extremely hard to steal, kill, and destroy. He desires to wear out the saints and sift us as wheat. He wants to put so much pressure on us until we feel like God has discarded, forsaken, and forgotten about us. He would like for us to lie down and quit and abort the destiny that God has ordained for each of us.

Peter understood the challenges we believers face because Jesus told him that Satan desired to have him so he can sift him as wheat.

The Lord Jesus told Peter, I have prayed for you that your faith will not fail and when you are converted (turned back to me again) strengthen your brethren (Luke 22:31–32).

This is one of reasons I wrote this book: I want to strengthen the brethren. And here is the other reason: I want people who do not know God to understand that He loves them and He has gone to great lengths to rescue all people from the judgments that shall come upon the whole earth.

Too many people think God is their problem. Too many people think the difficulties and temptations they are facing are a direct result of God’s anger toward them. No, no, no, God is good! The Bible declares that He is good to everyone. He is so good that He has already made a way for you and me to overcome every temptation, test, or trial that our enemy the devil could throw at us.

    God’s word declares:

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer (allow) you to be tempted above that ye are able: but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

If we couldn’t overcome these challenges, our loving heavenly Father would not allow that temptation to come our way. It’s during the most challenging times when all hope seems lost and you’re feeling weak and worn-out that we have to encourage ourselves and remember, the Lord is mindful of us.
