About this ebook

I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. But when he, the spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and will tell you what is yet to come. He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you. John 16:12-14

This book is dedicated to my parents Jean and Melvin Terrell whose love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and temperance through the grace of God instilled inside me the words, characteristics, and spirit of this book.

    Foreword

The Gift of God by Michael Terrell is a book that is appropriately entitled because I do truly believe that it is a Gift of God, through Michael Terrell, to all who may choose to read it. Indeed it is a unique Gift of God because it is a book of daily devotions that is based upon a creative and prayerful arrangement of Biblical Scriptures that allows the Scriptures to speak for themselves on three major and related themes: The Word of God, The Righteousness of God, and The Spirit of God.

After reading the manuscript, I am convinced that it will serve as a useful and inspirational resource to introduce and set the tone for the practice of daily devotions. Furthermore, I have had the privilege of several discussions with Michael during the time that he was writing this book. Thus I know that it was prayerfully written. Indeed his work clearly affirms his personal relationship with God.

I also know that it has been a labor of love; and likewise know that his lovely wife Lisa has been his faithful co-laborer and supporter in this offering. In conclusion, I am excited to recommend THE GIFT OF GOD to everyone who seriously desires to organize, enrich, and strengthen his or her devotional and prayer life as a faithful follower of Jesus Christ.

    Introduction

So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened (Luke 11:9–10).

Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Matthew 7:9–11).

For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life (John 3:16).

I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that you have eternal life. This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of him

    (1 John 5:13–15).

Do not be deceived, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created (James 1:16–18).

"For this reason I remind you to, stir up the gift of God, which is in you through the laying on of my hands. For God did not give us a spirit of fear, but a spirit of power, of love and of a sound mind" (2 Timothy 1:6–7).

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give (Matthew 10:8).

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured to you (Luke 6:38).

As I began to speak, the Holy Spirit came on them as he had come on us at the beginning. Then I remembered what the Lord had said, ‘John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’ So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could oppose God? (Acts 11:15–17).

"He said to me: ‘It is done. I am the Alpha and Omega, the Beginning and the End. To him who is thirsty I will give to drink without cost from the
