Blood, Sweat & Tears: The Dark Flower
()
About this ebook
Through darkness, the red light shone bright as embers of a fire that will never go out. A rose--the bleeding red, thorny blackness--keeps blooming even when it doesn't want to. It lives, it breathes, it grows, even when the odds are against her.
The final chapter of agony carried for years and years through a field of rage is set to page.

ASIN:
Excerpt from The Heart of a Woman.
Formerly known as Into the Shadows of Darkness.
"And so, the distorted life breaks,
Beating on the shore,
Tearing at the vestibule of hate,
Ripping at my heart,
Appendages torn wide open,
Bleeding emotions,
Love seeping to the floor."

—Jennifer Oneal Gunn—2012
To the end of the past and the beginning of the future. Right now.
FORWARD:
As this fork in the road ends and we walk another part of the path, don’t look back. We don’t live there anymore. Keep your head high and walk with me one final time down the long dark road that used to be but is no longer.
It might be painful, but I will be by your side. I won’t leave you. Turn those pages and think of me beside you as you look further into the shadows with me. It was once a place I knew well whether I liked it or not. The anger, something I lived with like the Hulk, wanes these days, thankfully. Back in the shadowy, dark world of the past, I held onto it like a good friend because I thought it helped. It didn’t.
It’s time to let it go. Once and for all.
I thank you for coming in and reading this with me and hopefully helping yourself to also break from a shadowy past.

Blood
––––––––
The crimson, wet liquid that runs from my body,
Down my sleeve from my heart,
Hitting the floor,
Splashing in waves like the vast ocean inside me,
Running along the grout of the tile,
Slowing its pace and sticking in the cracks.
Slippery and gory at the same time,
That red substance that says we’re alive,
Coursing through our veins,
On the floor,
Wet, drying, dying...
Mesmerizing me as I stare at the pool of blood,
My vision is weak,
I cannot speak,
Lines running through my head as the haze begins.
Sweat
––––––––
The sweat, a droplet of water, sliding down the side of my face,
Mixing with the salt on my skin.
There is power in your eyes,
They said.
Such power is condemned and taken away
Even though, this sweat drips freely from me while work is done
There is power there,
In my eyes,
In my heart,
In my head,
All the things I need,
They are within me...if only...
If only I could see them too,
If only this work didn’t feel wrong
I don’t sweat for them
I do this for me and others
I work this hard and bide my time
Always waiting
Always dreaming
Always praying for the day to come
When the work is seen
This sweat, dripping down my face isn’t for me...
Tears
––––––––
I think of the years
I think of the pain
I think of you
And the tears stream down my face
Cascading down in rivers
Wetting my cheeks and running down my chin.
Through watery eyes
I see you
In my mind
I remember
Everything we were and all we are
I feel you in every swipe of the tears running down
That don’t stop
Through watery eyes
I see you
In my mind
Always there
In my head
I hear your voice when you say
All is okay
The tears streaming down my face
They wet my cheeks and slide down my chin
It hurts
This reminiscing
It won’t stop
It can’t stop
You’re always there
Inside my head
And I see you clearly
Perhaps one day you’ll smile at me
Through watery eyes
I see you
In my mind
Even in the darkness
I see you
Waiting there
Inside my head
Sorrow
––––––––
Sorrow is like emptiness and everything all at once.
The depths are unfathomable and yet,
The surface is bleeding,
For one life that might not have meant much to others,
But it meant a lot to me.
In trying to gather my wits,
It feels as if all rationality is missing.
Not much makes sense,
When the world you knew changes suddenly.
In the
