The Story Of Blue Mummy - Dianna Diverno
THE STORY OF THE BLUE MUMMY
DIANNA DIVERNO
Preamble
Dianna Diverno is a writer of lavish imagination. She has written thousands of pages so far, often cleverly fabricating an act, characters and plot, which tells us that she is a writer of very rich imagination. Sensibly studying a couple of historical sources about the Egyptian state, Dianna cleverly created the heart of the action that makes the The story of the blue mummy
, that takes us from U.S.A. and Canada all the way to Libya, where once was the border of the ancient Egyptian state. Novel is dedicated to the wide audience with its subject, and, we, the audience, can see as in the mirror, the very course of a criminal investigation. However, it must be noted that the literary form of this work is not a result of high, artistic finishing. Another novel like the ones we've read before, as Forbidden Love
, Komodo-Italian mafia patronage
, Fatal surveillance
, La Miracle Casinos
, Kill With Style
– all represent Dianna exactly through her favourite book genre. Dianna's opus is otherwise fantastic and great, always kind of vital, and the author is always inclined to re-examination of herself through such novels, always one foot in a somewhat individualistic rebellion in the sphere of inventing. Like many authors who write 200 or 300 pieces, Dianna Diverno also strives towards it. Novel The Story of the Blue Mummy
is the sixth part of American hexalogy and can be read separately, the action takes place quickly, through a short period of only two months. Work in itself has realistic forms of social and political content, which really happened. The very end of the novel suddenly takes us to the very beginning and the novel Marked to die
; Although the complete hexalogy is the result of the ultimate imagination and individual long-standing adventure of several different individuals, Dianna ina clever way presents us with positive and negative characters in the right interweaving of the literary web that stretches through 1,300 pages.

CHAPTER ONE - New Life in California
SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA
The day was just wonderful. The sun shone high in the sky, there was not a single cloud. During a program that was playing on a car radio, about 40 °C was announced. The tropical weather covered the California area as a veil, but it did not bother him at all. Captain John Robertson, by all means, was used to everything, and even tropical weather was not a problem. The weather forecast was over. It was expected to rain in the coastal parts as well as temperature drop in San Francisco. During the night thunderstorms were expected, and even stormy winds were not completely excluded. It was completely fine by him, even if it became a bit colder. Although he moved from New Orleans to San Francisco some time ago and started a whole new life. This new life meant that he could devote himself to Jane, but also to adapt to everything. Exactly that - adapting - seemed completely impossible. Because, with him being almost 40 years old, it did not seem neither easy nor simple to start from the beginning? Or at least from a brand new beginning. Rachel, his former wife, now lives her life without him, and he was supposed to build different foundations and he did, though in California. They first looked into Los Angeles, Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Bronx and Hollywood, and Captain Robertson was convinced that he would certainly not like it too much there. San Francisco seemed more compassionate, better, more flexible. After all, he was almost 40 years old. Moreover, he did not even think about his age as something that would justify some of his actions, but the most important thing was to get to know self at those moments. People, he thought, were periodically able to change their lives and some of their principles, but he's changed a lot.
He was in the army again, part of the special units. The New Orleans Research Department was behind him, and he looked at it as an interesting episode of his own life. But instead of the police, here in California, he chose the army. He was captain, and that morning he concluded sadly that he had this rank for a long time, for so long that he started to realize that the time had come for him to be promoted.
Some music was playing on the radio, his attention was directed to the road. He drove towards the military field on which he had exercises that day. With regret he noted that the period in the investigation department of the police had slowly slackened him and made him lazy, so returning to the polygon for a hardworking exercise was a real little shock for him. Now he realized that today’s training would be tedious, especially due to a tropical weather.
The military polygon was located on the road to San José, from where the road continued to the river Saint Joaquin. He visited the river once, but he did not have too much time that day to enjoy the nature. And now he stopped in front of the military field, from where he continued in level walk next to the fence in a form of a three-meter-high barbed wire, and from there he proceeded by a gravel road towards the big polygon. He recalled how he was before, at the time of his education, exercises and the special unit, where he was very shortly for he soon began to work for Colonel Alfred Redflick. A long time work for Alfred Redflick has marked a rather large part of Robertson's life. And later, the New Orleans Police Department, and collaboration with an excellent inspector Lombardo and now here he is. He sighed deeply, the scent of nature, of the forest, of peace, was the scent that fully corresponded with him. But he knew very well that this peace would not last long. He reached the targets, which were adjusted to a certain distance, and pulled the pistol in order to start exercising. He was looking forward to multiple hours of training in shooting, climbing, running and regular exercises. It was time to be a part of a special unit again. He took the gun and stared at the distance, and then started aiming without a blink.
Jane Howard was completely satisfied with the relationship, but also the whole life she had with Captain John Robertson. The relationship which, according to Jane's opinion, began suddenly and in some unusual circumstances, while he investigated the disappearance and the death of her husband, now lasted for several months and they were even engaged. Although John did not mention a wedding near in the future, she hoped that in the coming months that would also follow. To be married again - she thought. It seemed like a wonderful idea. Especially since after her husband's disappearance, she spent four years in awaiting agony, but also hoping that the disappearance and eventual death will be clarified. Now she thought about it, seeing that after the disappearance of Eric Howard she could not afford to love someone, to be in love, to live. Four years of being closed off were too much for her, and in some ways it shaped her as a person. She was more taciturn, calmer, business woman, and a single mother, dedicated to work in the office. She had reddish-orange hair, very long and well-groomed, likable face, skinny body and was of middle height, about 160 cm.
She came home from work now. She and John did not live together. He wanted them to be separated for some time during his training, because he often got up very early and exercised even at home. She did not want to disturb him. She knew he would have an ability test in order to return back to the ranks, so he wanted to be completely ready.
Jane Howard still lived in that family house that belonged to her late husband. Now she did not wish to live here anymore. It's like this move - the change of life - that John did at the moment, like some kind of infection passed on to her, so she did not wish to live in that house now. As if she too wanted to make some big change in her life. She put coffee to cook, opened her fridge, and poured herself a glass of cold lemonade. She waited until the coffee was cooked, and then she put it all on the silver platter and headed for the living room. The woman who worked for her every other day, had that day off. The house was quiet and empty. Jane's daughter, she had from marriage with Eric, was spending that day with her grandparents, therefore Jane had the afternoon and evening at her disposal.
She sat down on the bed and felt that she was again overwhelmed by stiffness she had felt at the time of the disappearance of Eric Howard, which never completely abandoned her. She turned on the TV to avoid thinking about it and listened to news about weather and European mass migrations, noting that after such an influx of refugees, the face of Europe will not be the same. And then concluded that it doesn’t interest her that much, because she does not even live in Europe..
Just as the news ended and a funny entertainment show about the funniest cats in the household began, the phone rang and alarmed her.
- Hello!
- Jane!
- Hey, John! - Her thin lips on which there were still a few little traces of red lipstick stretched into a wide smile. - How are you?
- Fine, - he said - I just finished with exercises - with a slight step, Captain John Robertson left the military field. He was heavily sweating and was convinced that at that moment on the asphalt there was about 50 °C.
-Wonderful - she switched to the next channel, the beginning of the fashion week show.
- I thought I'd stop by tonight.
-Tonight?
-Yes. Tomorrow I will not be here. I have a test tomorrow.
-Yes ... - she said, somewhat absent. He did not know how to interpret her silence.
-Unless you have something else planned? - He paused for a moment.
- Well, I do not. But I do not feel really well - she was sincere – This heat annoys me.
-Yeah, me too. Today, it wasn’t at all comfortable to be on the field. - Captain Robertson slowly approached his car.
- Yes, imagine how it feels for building workers - she reminded him.
- From that perspective - he smiled and sat in the car - stay on the polygon wasn’t at all that bad. It only lasted temporarily! Then, I'm not coming tonight?
She thought - I need peace, John - and then she added, as if justifying - it's just tonight!
- All right, sweetheart. Get better. Talk to you tomorrow!
- All right - and then she added - Let me know how the test passed!
When she put down earphone, she really realized that she was wondering how John Robertson would do on that test. It was the beginning of the second stage of his life. Although, this could not be called the second stage, because he returned to what he already had in his life - the military section. And what was she returning to? She wondered, realizing that it was time to finally leave the stuffiness behind and start living a new life in another house, which will not remind her of her old life and Eric..
She decided to put up a house for sale and find herself a new apartment..
The next day, Captain John Robertson was supposed to take several tests in the period from 7 to 15 hours, which concerned his intellectual, psychological and physical ability to stay in special units. He took tests that any other soldier would have to take.. He passed with average score and was admitted.
He did not even know why was he so happy about it.
Fioronela Robertson was the daughter of Captain John Robertson, from his marriage to Rachel. After the divorce, she stayed with her mother, while Samuel went to the boarding school in Europe. Once a month- on weekend - she would come to see her father in California, and those moments were always fun and wonderful, and California was new and unexplored area, completely different from Louisiana. She liked to devote herself to painting with that expressed inclination towards perfection and exaggeration. She knew her father’s new fiancé (and she thought about that as though there were at least three fiancées before her), and with sorrow she concluded that in relation to the stiff Jane Howard she liked better her father's previous girlfriend, Patricia Thompson, whose greatest flaw was evident superficiality, the look of the barbie she was striving for, and the fact that John did not like her too much, so they eventually broke up - and Patricia began seeing her psychiatrist, Mr Perkinson.
Fioronela also had a nice relationship with Jane Howard, too superficial and quite stiff. Because, as Fioronela even thought, who could have achieved any other kind of relationship with Jane Howard, other than what was based on stiffness. Fioronela Robertson was almost accustomed to her parents being divorced. Rachel was starting a new life, and John also devoted himself to new beginnings, so she generally thought that in time many stages of life would end and the new ones start.
Fioronela Robertson was also the only official successor to the entire property of Alfred Redflick. She owned a three-level house in Louisiana, with a perfectly landscaped lawn, garden and studio, but she was officially inheriting that house only after she turns 25 years old. That's how Colonel Alfred Redflick wanted, but until then she was using interest rates. She went to the school of arts, to become a painter and promised to herself to open a museum sometime in the future. She liked painting and going to art colonies and exhibitions.
That day, she called her father in the afternoon hours. It was at the time when, according to her estimates, he probably completed a military training test of ability to participate in special units. At first he was not available, it was only on the third attempt that she reached him, just as she heard the front door open, the sound of the key in the lock and when she heard Rachel say I'm home!
- Hey, Daddy! - She greeted him cheerfully. She was really rooting for him to become part of the military section after leaving the investigation department.
Fioronela! - she heard him speaking and it sounded as though he was in some crowd at that moment. She heard the sound of the engine running in the distance. - I am glad to hear from you!
- Did you make it? - She exclaimed, she was really interested in whether he managed to pass the tests. She knew how much he cared about it and how much time he invested by exercising.
-Yes. Average - he answered briefly, the connection was lost for a moment.
-Great. So you're part of the special units now. Hm! How exciting is that, dad. You're a soldier again - she smiled at that.
- I never really - he started at once - stopped being a soldier - Captain John explained triumphantly to her - Once soldier, always a soldier!
Fioronela thought about it for a moment.
- That's what Colonel Redflick used to say.
-No, it was commander Aaron! - he explained to her. - Commander Aaron always thought I would be back in the army sooner or later. He told me that while I was part of the New Orleans Police Department!
-Oh!
- And he was right.
-Of course he was. So, my father is in special units, how exciting is that? - although she wanted to ask him about exercises and physical readiness, because according to her logic it was clear that young men should be admitted rather than middle-aged men, but she quickly concluded that it did not even have to be that way! Therefore, she did not say anything.
- Sure it is. When are you coming to California?
-Friday!
-Original! - he was moving down the street, he was going to the department store of men's clothes - We should celebrate that!
Just as she wanted to say something about how she did not think it was excellent to celebrate with the uptight Jane Howard, she chose not to say anything. At the same time, they finished the conversation and he went to the department store...
Fioronela Robertson was thinking about all this, and then she looked at the entrance door on which Rachel was leaned on watching her quizzically.
-Your father? – she raised her eyebrows ironically.
-Yes. He passed - and then quickly added – He is part of the army again. Special units.
Rachel just rolled her eyes in reaction to this sentence. She just came from work and did not wish to listen about her former husband.
- I'm glad, but John is no longer part of my life - then she turned and headed for the kitchen - I'm going to make dinner. I hope you’re fine with lobster?
She did not hear her daughter's answer because she was already in the kitchen, then she looked at one point and concluded that John, in some ways, would always be part of her life. Obvious fact she had to get used to - she thought and pulled lobster out of the refrigerator.
John Robertson saw the advantages and the importance of being a part of the special units, a place where for the last two to five months he had desired to be.
That afternoon, after passing the exam, he went to the department store to get new evening suit of dark blue colour that perfectly fit with his turquoise green ties that he had in abundance from the former marriage, because Rachel bought at least five ties in that shade because she thought that this colour fits him perfectly. He needed one new evening suit, and he bought two shirts - one light blue and with short sleeves, and the other was silk, white and with long sleeves and surely completely inappropriate for such a heat.
He came back to his two-bedroom apartment only in the evening, and previously he ate in some inexpensive restaurant where he could with the daily menu offer have a proper meal, he listened to messages on the answering machine, listened to the news, it appeared that the evening will go by quietly and boringly. He would prefer if Jane was with him, but she was until the next day on the business trip to Aspen and she certainly did not wish to return to San Francisco at those moments. She sent him a brief message on the mobile that she was happy for him, and that Aspen was wonderful.
And he suddenly began to feel stuffiness, so he shuffling in the armchair in which he was seated, concluded that he spent a lot of time in the past few weeks in military training, learning and exercises, and that he had no time to form new and interesting friendships. He also watched some interesting show about historical excavations and about Siberian mummies, feeling happy that he is not an investigator, and how that job requires the will and the strength... He looked at the Formula 1 race, and then he realized that it was time to finally go to bed.
In two days he had to start working in special units
