    Introduction

Success is not final; failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. – Winston Churchill

According to CB Insights, a poor business model causes about 19% of new enterprises to fail yearly. Launching a business can be an incredibly intriguing pursuit; as such, everyone who attempts to go down this path hopes they will succeed. However, many people who launch firms or businesses end up closing their doors after some time. According to several research data sources, numerous enterprises are started each month, and a substantial percentage fail. What causes the failures, and why? It's simple; they lacked a solid foundation before getting started.

Over the years, I have been opportune to serve on the board of several small businesses. I learned a lot from them, even though some didn't succeed in the end. One specific concept, however, stands out in my assessment of failed businesses: they have a fundamentally weak foundation. People tend to enter the business world without first doing their homework, with no business plan and uncertainty about what exactly they should be selling. This is a recipe for failure.

To be clear, business ownership is a difficult task. More new businesses fail than succeed, but this book was written to prevent your business from being part of that statistic. I have created this guide using the combined experiences of various entrepreneurs with extensive business knowledge.

I aim to leverage this publication by sharing many of my hard-learned lessons, seeking to help individuals considering starting an enterprise and ensuring they receive all the necessary information to scale their business successfully.
