About this ebook
C.N. Cantelon
I studied writing in the late 1960's at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon, taking classes from William Stafford, Vern Rutsala and James Liddy, among others. I earned my BA in Literature there, then went on to get an MA in English Literature fom the University of Southern California. I began publishing individual poems in magazines and anthologies during that time. I didn't pursue publishing until 2014, when I had my first book, "Continuity," published. Since then, I have published three more books of poetry and prose with Trafford. "Mind Music" will probably be my last.

Pebbles
Pebbles tossed into a pond
Cause ripples extending beyond
Anything the thrower intended.
A lady I lightly befriended
Grows in the circles of my affection
Into something approaching perfection
Until her aspect fills my mind –
Nothing intended but, somehow, designed.
I’ve found that her every action
Results in my satisfaction.
39776.pngLove Again
I have known love from time to time.
I have dared to commit to someone.
I have been a part of something sublime
And have felt the pain of a love undone.
I thought I could not love again
Nor give so much of myself away.
But love comes, unasked and unsought.
I feel it again with you, today.
39790.pngAdjustments
At first, this constant change worried me.
I was confused and discouraged, constantly.
Myriad adjustments seemed the rule.
Often, I came out feeling the fool.
I traveled to Oregon, land of my birth,
To recapture a sense of my own worth.
I walked on the beach and heeded the wind.
I believe it focused me, again.
The sea sends waves upon the shore.
Every ebb takes away. Every flow adds more.
It never kisses the same soft beach.
It persists, at no time out of reach.
I returned to show I understand
How we know so little in the end.
The ebb and flow of love,
