About this ebook
Get the Summary of John Doerr's Measure What Matters in 20 minutes. Please note: This is a summary & not the original book. Original book introduction: John Doerr spells out the recipe for efficiency in corporations by using objectives and key results. A seasoned pro, Doerr traces on his history with OKRs and uses several examples from case studies by people who have implemented his system of utilizing OKRs. What unrolls is this: a great story and mission aren't the only keys to success; having a structured, transparent way of creating goals aligns a company and drives them to better performance. Doerr uses several case studies from tech companies, and even a musician, to present how OKRs changed their missions from being visions into reality.

Measure What Matters: How Google, Bono, and the Gates Foundation Rock the World with OKRs (2018) by venture capitalist John Doerr details a simple but highly effective goal-setting technique called Objectives and Key Results, or OKRs. The OKR method is a management philosophy that pairs concrete objectives with actionable steps. It defines and sets goals for companies and teams within a framework that encourages ongoing communication about those goals and sets a timeline for accomplishing them. The OKR process increases transparency and allows for more constructive dialogue. Doerr introduced the system to Google in the company’s start-up days in 1999; nearly two decades later, the tech giant still relies upon the OKR
