Falling Rain
Rain is falling on my face. Please shield me from the cold and wet? Silent cries of help I make for comfort to protect. Wind starts whistling through the air. I search for shelter in despair. Water trickles down my face. It is moisture from my dampened hair.
The cold begins to chill my bones. Father rain sits in his thrown. He watches as the waters pours laughing with a thunderous roar! Abandoned houses I run by. Debris and rats wait inside. Father Rain gripping his whip strikes lightning through the gloomy sky!
Wet is my body. Drenched is my soul. Chewed by the rain. Swallowed by the cold. Victim to rain with no place to go. Running has stopped. Walking is slow. Clothes weigh down my body then drag me to my knees. Rain starts to slack. It is only a tease. Father Rain stands from his thrown with whip in his grip, fire in eyes, grin on his lips!
With one crack of lightning the rain starts to pour. The thunder is bold! His final roar. One snap of the wrist then up goes his whip. My eyes I shut tight. Survival’s my wish. Down comes the lightning enormous with speed. Blood will be spilt and the vultures will feed. Heart starts to swell. Death I can smell! The rest of the story too gory to tell.
The Four
Horsemen
There is no need to count the leaves which grow upon the family tree. If the roots are strong the years grow long to create your fondest memories. Christmas songs at the fireplace. Grandmom cooks breakfast and lunch. Dinner time with potatoes and steaks. Who won the Easter Egg Hunt? The Christmas Tree was knocked over. We blamed it on Jamal. Tahira was learning to walk. The grass needs to be cut for Grandmom loves her acre of land, so Grandpop drives the mower and never disrupts where thee apple tree stands. Late teens into 20’s apples still fall upon the ground. But the next group too young to gather so Grandpop cuts thee apple tree down. Yes he loves to till the land and his vegetable garden grows. Grandchildren still ask the question, "how old is Aunt Rose?" The summer heat is blazing. We know how to keep cool. Walk down Meadowhurst Lane and swim in Mr. Jimmy’s pool. Crickets sing in the night sky. Lightning bugs blink in the dark. The Four Horsemen always ready to fly Byron, Daniel, Stevie and Marc. Grandchildren sing for the elders. Family relaxes upon the lawn. While Byron chases Little Mike, Marc dances with Lashawn. The grapes grow on the vine. Tonia and Stevie eats them all. The Christmas Tree is knocked over again we blamed it on Jamal. Summer, winter, spring in autumn we sing when the leaves fall. The Christmas Tree is knocked over and yes we blamed it on Jamal. Roses are red. Violets are blue and do not pick thee orchids. Grandmom chases away the colds and flu then we run to Linvilla Orchards.

GOD Bless The Family…
Why Must I Die?
I am innocent of all crimes but yet I get no trial. They talk of persecution and I sit here all the while. I have harmed no man that walks the land but still they want me dead. They will twist my flesh to reach their quest destroying the path which lies ahead.
Dark is the future. No noise from the rooster. The sun will never find me. They behave like bullies picking on me because I am so tiny. This is my fate. The end is near. Will the angels seek to find me? Tomorrow is bleak for the lamb and the sheep killed by the one called mommy.
Why must I die? This question I ask. No hope for the future. No chance for a past. I must stay awake. Too scared to go sleep. What’s that noise? OH GOD they are coming to get me! Hush…
