About this ebook
This book provides further details on the application of the principles she talks about in Second Coming. Diaz talks about how to live from the heart and how we know that we are being the love that we are. She emphasizes that we live from a place of empowerment when we are being the love that we are. By being the love that we are, we are living in the highest level of con-sciousness. We awaken the God within, becoming creators of our heart’s desires. We give our-selves permission to follow our bliss, and by doing so, we essentially create heaven on earth.

INTRODUCTION
W e are made in God’s image. My decision to put on paper how I came to learn this and understand what it means for us in terms of how we heal or create our reality did not come easily. It was a difficult decision because I was afraid that my colleagues would think I was crazy and I would lose all credibility, or they would think I saw myself as special. Neither was the case. I saw myself as ordinary. I was just a graduate student in the field of clinical psychology, learning to be a psychotherapist. I had been studying psychology since 1982, but nothing I had learned at college prepared me for the information I was about to receive. In 1998, I had a series of four lucid dreams. It would be many years before I would have the courage to share what I was given. Without a doubt, my scholarly world was turned on its head.
In 1998, I was in my doctoral program, studying to become a clinical psychologist. I looked at the world through the lens of science. Whatever spiritual inclinations I had, I set them aside. If I were to become a well-trained clinical psychologist at the top of my field, I had to become acquainted with the scientific, peer-reviewed research in the literature, especially the research on evidence-based practices. There was no place for things that could not be scientifically examined. I had to become well versed in both the science and the art of doing psychotherapy. I thought I was on my way to becoming a clinical psychologist until I had those four dreams, which occurred over a series of several months. They pulled me back into the world of the spiritual.
In those dreams, I came face-to-face with Christ and with God. Both Christ and God poured their energy of pure love into me. The energy of pure love was like nothing I had ever felt. It was simply indescribable. Having been trained in the scientific research methods, I needed to look for some kind of validation that what I had experienced was not my imagination. I needed to know that I did not make up what I had seen and experienced. I started researching intensively, looking for books or films or video clips of people who claimed to have seen Christ or God and see if what I experienced matched what they experienced.
I started to pray again and ask for guidance from God and Christ. I asked heaven to help me understand why I had these dreams. I didn’t know what to do with the information I received. Through all the intense learning that I gained over the years, I started putting all the pieces of the puzzle together, from all different sources of information, and came upon an understanding of the relationship among mind, body, and spirit and the principles behind how we create the reality we are experiencing, based on the level of consciousness at which we function. I learned that there really is something to the idea that your thoughts, and the emotions behind your thoughts, reflect your level of consciousness, which is expressed in the reality you are creating. I decided to test what I had learned to make sure that I understood how to apply these principles. After I felt more confident, I decided to teach it to people who were interested in learning to change their experience. I started teaching this to a couple of clients at the community mental health center where I was working and then started teaching it at a hospital. After a few years, my clients at the hospital encouraged me to put it down on paper so that they would have something to refer to, and this culminated in my first book, Second Coming: Awakening the God Within (2015).
My intention for Second Coming was to write down how I began this journey and what I had learned. I meant for Second Coming to be an easy-to-read instruction manual on the principles behind changing your experiences and to provide simple instructions on how to do that. My intention for this second book, Your Heart Is the Master, is to delve further into the main principle of how to change your experience, by making your heart the master and the mind your servant. I discuss in more depth the principle role that love and compassion play in all of this. I include more personal stories of people who were kind enough to share them with me to exemplify the powerful role that love has played in their lives.
My hope for you is that the material in this book uplifts you and guides you to use the tools to change your life for the better. My hope for you is that you see how the heart is your connection to the divine and is the key to living a life where the positives outweigh the negatives. My hope for you is that you realize that you are a divine being, worthy of all the gifts that heaven is waiting to give you. All you have to do is give yourself permission to receive them and say, Yes, thank you!
Namaste!
CHAPTER 1
Evelyn and Henry
I n 2004, I was planning to leave San Francisco to complete my fellowship in clinical psychology at a hospital in Boston. I was working feverishly on putting the final touches on my dissertation before leaving. I had so much to do and so little time. The pressure was on. At the time, it had been a year and a half since my boss, Evelyn, had unexpectedly passed away from atheroscler osis.
Another staff member had explained to me that a blood vessel had burst in her heart. I was told that the EMT
