About this ebook
Manuel Davila Sr
My name is Manny Jr. I really can’t put into words like my dad does in this book, but I wanted everyone to know that I appreciate all the love you sent my way when I was at my worst and best. I can’t begin to tell you how difficult this journey has been for me and my family, but I am thankful I wasn’t alone. I had a lot of love and support from lots and lots of people. So many blessings, so many needed prayers.

37709.pngIt took me nine years to learn and understand the true meaning of life, unwanted circumstances and love.
Not that I was looking for it, it chased me down like an invasion like an unwanted plague.
No choice to choose from just randomly selected by the forces of life that came so uninvited.
If it was up to me I would have gotten rid of this, far into the depths of space where no man women or child can reach nor reintroduce into this life as we know it. I would have made it go away never to return. Never ever
not in this life time or the next.
This deadly silence intruded my space, crawling its way into my innocents of life and laughter as I once knew it. I didn’t want this not in a million years, why did it not just stay away and why was I so randomly chosen for this without an option to reject it.
I much prefer to continue learning along with my 4th grade class instead of being forced to learn at an adult level without any warning. I still to this day don’t know how or why I was chosen for this, it was never part of my plan. I’m just a kid in search of a normal life, I didn’t sign up for this so I decided to fight back, I will not give up nor will I ever give in...
even if it is cancer...
The early morning sun invaded my room without any warning. I turned over and grabbed my pillow to cover my head not wanting to wake up from the awesome dream I was having.
I was in the park riding my skate board while Salina Gomez was walking along side of me holding my hand. I was in love and although I knew it was just a dream, I didn’t want it to end but to my disappointment it was going in the wrong direction.
I could feel the heat from the sun’s powerful ray cooking my foot. The more I tried to ignore it and stay with the dream, the more it felt like I was being roasted.
Next thing I knew Salina was melting away from the heat until she was completely gone.
I sat up on the bed looking in the direction of the window hoping to see her again, not happening I told myself. It was time to get up, I stretched hard noticing the flying dust as the sun penetrated my entire room.
I blamed myself for not listening to my mom last night, her words now echoing loudly in my head… Make sure you close those curtains boy before you go to sleep
.
I angrily kicked the covers off me and made my way to the bathroom, running into my dog Punch who seemed extremely happy to see me. I said good morning to him he began to run circles around me with excitement.
I learned later that he did this whenever he had to go, it was his way of saying I got to use the bathroom.
Punch was a good dog I had two other dogs Papi and Mambo...
When I was just 4 years old my parents surprise me with Punch. Punch was left at a dog shelter and was taken to the humane society where my parents adopted him.
From the very begging punch was a fun dog he played with me all day long and when I took a nap so did he. My dad said it was okay for my dog to sleep with me, punch got accustom to it really fast.
Punch was a lab mixed with pure breed husky wolf, he had sky blue eyes and an all-black shiny coat making him look like a fluff ball with blue eyes.
I got lots of gifts that year... but none better than my dog punch he was my wonder dog...
My name is Manuel Davila Jr. Everyone calls me Manny... this is my story...
In 2002 I was born in Gastonia NC to Johanna and Manuel Davila. I have no idea why Gastonia because both my parents and all my siblings were all born in New York City. I may have been cheated because why else would I be the sacrificed lamb, and why Gastonia?
Is that even a name...? I intend to ask my parents that very same question one day...
Growing up in the south I was at an advantage according to my parents who left New York City to find a better life. I never understood why they said this until I went to New York for the first time.
Gastonia was a quick blur in my memory because my family didn’t stay there long at all. I was just three years old when my parents headed further south to Suwannee GA.
My parents really liked GA they said it reminds them of New York in a small way.
They talked about New York a lot it really seems to be an awesome place to live.
In 2004 my parents got a two bedroom apartment with a loft and a sunroom in Suwannee. It was a nice apartment and because I was a little kid my dad put my bed in the smallest place, the sunroom I loved every bit of it.
I remember the loft best we had plenty fun times with my brothers and sisters who by the way I completely forgot to introduce them to you, sorry about that...
Let’s see first there’s Angel, he’s the oldest and coolest brother a kid could have. He so reminds me of Mr. Bean.
Then there’s my second oldest brother Julian... Julian was into girl’s and sports he always took the time to look after me when he wasn’t busy doing his own thing, he went off to fight for our county. I was so proud of him.
Mariah’ my oldest sister was the one who I believe was assigned to make sure me and my other sister Melanie was good with everything. She and my other sister’ I call her Melz’ both held me down when my parents were at work. We had lots of fun together.
