Over the years she has received honorable mention for her poetry, editors choice awards, and has also been noted as an outstanding poet and poet scholar. She has published three books of poetry and has had several poems made into songs by various recording industries.

      Abandoned Love

      Surrounded by darkness, tossed back and forth

      Abandoned by a love once blessed with growth

      When did it end? When did things go wrong?

      What happened to our bond that was so strong?

      Each day another struggle but she carries on

      Hoping that one day those fears will be gone

      And the emptiness that she’s been feeling each day

      Will disappear once the pain drifts away.

      Over flowing with questions, trembling with doubt

      What if she never finds a way out?

      Will her world be just colors of gray?

      Will she ever be given the chance to play?

      Trapped in the shadows of an abandoned love

      She hides her heart from the world above

      Afraid of what the sunshine may spark

      Terrified of being alone in the dark.

      Is her dream of freedom just dust in the wind?

      With tears in her eyes, where should she begin?

      Another battle… what will this one reveal?

      More hurt, more anger… will she ever heal?

      A lover’s song

      A lover’s song is ours to sing

      We’re two birds in the sky, flapping our wings

      We fly so high, we fly so free

      Through beds of roses, just you and me.
