Heaven Is Forever - John Rogers

    Introduction

I invite you to come with me and see how God has helped me all my life. I accepted God when I was a little boy in Baltimore. I was born in the basement of a row house in 1929. The Great Depression was sweeping the world. Almost everyone was poor, although we had God, so we were only financially poor.

I always knew that God was with me. I believe that once you accept almighty God and ask Him to show you His will and to be with you always, He will be with you forever.

I will share with you an incident in which blessed Saint Faustina, the first saint of the new millennium, interceded for a wonderful family. In her diary, Saint Faustina talked to God, who said He wanted her to be His secretary, now and forever. He told Saint Faustina to tell those of us living here on Earth that He did not want to punish us, because He knew that we were suffering enough. God told her to tell us that His mercy and the love in His heart are waiting for us. He wants to hold us close to His divine heart forever.

This, to me, says go to the almighty, ever-living God; ask for forgiveness for your offenses; and ask Him for His mighty and merciful love. It tells me that God is waiting for us to come to Him, now and forever.

As I write this, I am going through the greatest agony that I have ever known in my life—the loss of my beloved wife, Gloria. We have been married for fifty-eight years. I love her with every fiber of my being. I’ve watched her die for more than a year, suffering the agony of cancer. When I saw her screaming with pain, I felt like screaming and running away. Instead I offered all our suffering up to God. I ask you, friends, to whom else could I have run in a time like this? Only our Lord and our God. He is there for us. He will never let any of us down. Go to God, and never leave Him.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him and He will direct your paths. (Proverbs 3:5–6, NKJV)

    Jesus, I Trust in Thee

My wife is dying of cancer.

She is in the front room right now.

We have been happily married for fifty-seven years.

    Jesus, I trust in Thee.

Our son John is mentally challenged.

    Jesus, I trust in Thee.

I am afraid of death; it is like leaving a known place and

    going to an unknown place.

    Jesus, I trust in Thee.

There are so many things that I worry about.

    I am frightened and alone.

    Jesus, I trust in Thee.

I don’t know where to turn.

    Jesus, I trust in Thee.

All the things that I mention in this book

have one answer: Jesus, I trust in Thee.

If we do not trust in Jesus, in whom do we trust?

    Jesus is the only answer.

This book is about trusting in Jesus.

I have been with Jesus all my life.

There were times when I thought He had left me.

I was wrong. Once you commit yourself to Jesus Christ,

He will be with you forever.

    Now at eighty-five, I think
