Michaele J. Wagner was born in St. Joseph County, Michigan and brought up in a small town on the Sunrise Side, called Greenbush. Adopted at nine months, she was the first of three children adopted by Norman L. and Rita
K. (Terlinden) Bush. She has travelled throughout the United States with her parents, through the military, gaining an adopted brother and sister while the family was stationed at Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. The completed family then continued to Germany for a few years, returning to Greenbush in 1978. Michaele graduated from Oscoda Area
High School in 1983.

    Elizabeth and Jonathan lived in an old farmhouse that they found shortly after they had started dating. When they first fell in love with each other, they quickly started building their future by making plans about what they wanted. Their plans to marry were almost too quick for his parents to comprehend, but Jonathan knew from the moment his eyes met hers at their local grocery, she would be his wife.

    He was just a bagger; his last year of college was just behind him. He could finally take a breath after four years studying day and night.

    Jonathan had come home to help his parents on their ranch. His father was a rancher. It was not a normal life for his family but the ranch was situated right next to the reservation where his father and mother were born. The job bagging groceries in town was not a job that anyone would take normally after getting a Bachelors in Agriculture, but it was just a way to make a few bucks for his pocket while he studied the employment offers he had received his last few month of college. This was definitely not going to be his venue for a job, but it was enough to allow him to get out of the house when ranch chores were done. Both Jonathan and his employer, Mr. Joseph, had an unstated understanding that this job was a pacifier for both of them. Jonathan was rehired because he had built a friendship with his boss over his high school years and was a good worker, trustworthy, and kind. He worked the whole 4 years of high school and had always had a great report with customers. The Trader’s Dime was a familiar and comfortable place where he would take extra hours just to help when his co-workers needed help. When he left for college, Mr. Joseph was so similar to his own dad and was just as proud as Jonathans own father that his employee had a full scholarship when he left for college.

    Mr. Joseph knew that Jonathan was going to be leaving again once things were settled at home.

    Jonathan was the first in the family to get an education that included a high school diploma and a College degree. The ranch was one of the very few pieces of land that was off the reservation, where he had gone to school.

    Their love had started from a single glance and a small whisper of her voice. Jonathan was working when he heard the most beautiful voice. The clerk had asked if she wanted paper or plastic. The soft small
