Lora & Isabel: a Lone Novelle
()
About this ebook
of the spectrum while living under the same roof. While they were
once close friends, they are now living completely separate from one
another and are hardly speaking at all.
Lora, deemed the bad, troubled sister by her mother, is the over-analytical
narrator of the story. She is plagued by thoughts of uncertainty and constant
fear of the unknown. Once a misinterpreted girl in and out of psych wards
and therapy, Lora is now a fairly mild-tempered loner who has lost trust in
people because of her past. She was bullied and tormented by her peers while
her sister, Isabel, beautiful and popular, was seemingly living a perfect life.
Lora grew to resent her sister, feeling Isabel abandoned her during the most
miserable time of her life. The narrative tale takes place during one single
day; a day in which Lora decides she is somehow going to change her ways,
quiet her restless mind and overpower her fears.

LORA & ISABEL
A Lone Novelle
25325.jpgI want to go where tears dry. I want to go to a place that’s full with the holdings of a promise, instead of just visiting the hope where they lie. I’m stuck in a place where promises are broken, where lies are true. It’s a place where alcohol in blood levels is higher and more common than truth. Yes, I live where everything is deemed easier when tainted with substance abuse. I live in a land where queens promise things will improve. It’s a place in which kings promise to be true.
I’ve been told over and over that great love does exist, it is real. But is it reachable? Is it able to be found? This, I am not sure of. I am not sure where to look for it. Does love find us or do we find it? I am searching for answers without any luck. I am trying to solve age old riddles without any trust.
I know this much; some things are simply unable to be explained in words. Some things are far too magical to be taught. Some things are, in fact, unable to be found. Certain things find you. These things are the kind you can’t hunt, you can’t search for. We live in a place where they’re unable to be willingly located. They’re far too precious. Some things are too special to be known by the average closed-minded person.
But, if you’re lucky enough, you may experience something that is typically beyond reach. You can’t touch it or hold on to it, but you can see it, even if it’s for a fleeting moment. And you can be sure of one thing; that it is indeed fleeting. You can also be sure that these experiences are yours and yours alone. You can tell a story, but you can never insert the listener into it so they could ever experience it first-hand.
I have a friend who died about a year ago. His name is Anthony. We were great friends since childhood, and I had great regrets after I lost him. I’ve seen him a few times since he died, but only in my dreams. We meet somewhere between where he is now and where I still am. I can only find him in my subconscious state though. I think that’s a powerful state (when I think about it, of course).
He has delivered me messages. He has confirmed several things that I have wondered about my entire life. I always felt that I had been here before, time and time again, and my worst fear was that this was my last chance on Earth to turn things around and become who I was meant to be.
I always felt strongly that I had a purpose. I think we all do. I always believed I was meant to do something while on my journey here. I was meant to leave something powerful behind after it was my turn to leave this place.
When we dream, our subconscious tells us things. Sometimes other people in our lives, dead or alive, tell us things. We usually choose to ignore any symbolic messages or signs, as we do when we’re awake. It’s interesting though, when you open your eyes to them and see clearly for a change. It’s like life is a boom-box and someone turns up the volume unexpectedly. Colors seem brighter. Sounds are distinctly heard. Even what seems like the smallest of things can speak volumes of significance.
The last time I saw him, excuse me, the last time I saw him in a dream, he told me to stop looking for him. He told me that he was on his 100th life, and that he had to go live it now. I asked if I would see him again, and he said no. At least, I wouldn’t know it was him if I did. He would look differently.
I’ve always believed that we are given a different outfit, if you will, each time we are born; a different face, a different body. I also believe that we choose who we want in our lives, significantly, at least. I think when you connect with another person, you’ve known them much longer than you realize. Maybe you can’t remember how, but you can almost feel it. It’s like when people say "I feel like I’ve known you my whole life!" when you only just met. I think that’s because, well, you just may have known one another in a past life and found your way back to each other in this one.
Soul mates are another story. I believe we have a ton of them out there. But that one, true soul mate, does it exist? The great love of our lives? I hope so. I hope more than anything in the world, that that is true. I’ve been searching for it my whole life, whether I’d like to admit it or not. In return
