DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to the late Lionel Leonard Trott, my father. Our time together (fifteen years) was very short, but what we shared will always play an important role in my life. You told me to write all the time, but after your death, I didn’t pursue it as you told me. It took me a while, but I came to the realization that I needed God, the Almighty Father, in my life. I am now doing as he has instructed me to; I’m writing. Love you, Daddy.
ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
First, I would like to thank God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, my Almighty Father, my Jehovah Jireh, my everything. You have had me as the apple of your eye from before I was even thought of, and I claim and live your promise that you will never leave me nor forsake me. Thank you for depositing your word within me to give to others as encouragement.
Thanks to everyone who encouraged me to write and let me know when God’s words touched them.
I would like to thank the following people whose specific requests, life experiences, praise and worship, and even facial expressions inspired some of the poems:
Melita Ma
Landy, Copastor Laquita Landy, Elliot Smith, Gloria-Jean Dickinson, Pastor Lynn Landy, Darren Chill
Robinson, Vernon Young, Rudolph Fox, Dawn Smith, Levoui Landy, Sherica Trott, Lillian Ramphele, Thomas Smith, Malisa Butterfield, Linda Bean, the late Jevon ( Jahvy) Saunders, Anthony Steede, the late Kirk Simons, Sean Duarte, Althea Winifred and Dawnika Ebbin.
Thanks to Jenene Douglas, who always made sure I had a book to write my poems in.
Thanks to Kavin Smith for always believing in how God would use me and what I would achieve through God.
Special thanks to my grandmother, the late Oriel Ma Ma
Trott for being the best role model ever. It took me a while to catch on, but I thank God for your life because it showed me exactly who God is.
Special thanks Sean D. Duarte, for coming up with such an awesome title for this book.

FOREWORD
It is an honour coupled with a most precious feeling to be a part of this writer’s life. She reflects that life is about what you make it. Effective positive responses to life’s challenges are most imperative, not negative reactions to those unforeseen circumstances.
This book is a positive response to unproductive choices that led to consequential situations. This literary composition shows the rhythmical skills through lyrics, yet hidden are the triumphs that come out of real struggles.
These life-giving words formed in poetry will electrify, elevate, edify, and ease everyday life experiences and ultimately encourage the reader to embrace the fact that life is worth living.
Living is birthed in purpose that leads in a process to destiny. True life is found in transformation. The power to do so is found in God. This book reflects this without question. Karla Trott has become a model of this and her poetry is commendable. Thank you, Karla.
Read, laugh, cry, meditate, and be healed.

INTRODUCTION
My favorite scripture, James 1:22, states, But be ye doers of the word, not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
And that is exactly what I am doing. God instructs us to do many things, and writing this book is one of many for me. At the age of three, I wrote my very first poem.
I will go away from you
I will go to way from you
I will go away from you
And I won’t be back from the store.
My mother had made me mad, but at age three, could I really have run away? I don’t think so! So I sang it to her. This opened the door for many poems to come. I wrote poems for friends, family, loved ones, and everything I was encountering in life, such as hurts, disappointments, embarrassments, confusion, lack of trust, and the list goes on and on. In April 2006, I wrote the following poem:
On My Way to God
My insides feel like they are on fire
What is it that we call desire?
Peace, love, and happiness; is that what we seek?
Maybe it’s time for us to get really deep
Into the meaning of all three
To see exactly where we want to be
Peace from within takes time
We must understand it stems from being kind
Do unto others as you have them do unto you
Will give you a peace you are due
Love has so many meanings
We all need to do the screenings
To be sure we are all on the same page
Expressing our feelings in such a rage
Everyone should love more
Instead of wasting time remembering the score
I love you most is what we boast
We should worry about being like a roast
Tender, juicy, and seasoned nice
Will ensure all the sugar and spice
Happiness, how is this really defined?
Usually, it is something we leave behind
Mistakes and screw-ups leave it in the rear
And most of us shed many a
