The Three Line Poems
By Mu Pi Chan
()
About this ebook
From 1982 onwards i have used three lines poems as a way to record my thoughts and feelings about events in my life and the world around me. This book contains a selection of these poems from the years 1982 to 2019 culled from the decade collections for the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, and 2010s, along with some three line poems previously released in Part 1 of Consolidation. A small number of amendments have occurred during this process.
Mu Pi Chan
Mu Pi Chan was born in 1959 in a house that was then in the County of Essex, but which now lies within the London Borough of Havering. He was brought up from a very early age just outside Southend-on-Sea (Essex). He spent three years at the University of Kent at Canterbury (Kent), and has subsequently lived In St Albans (Hertfordshire), Guildford (Surrey), and Romsey (Hampshire).Mu Pi Chan has released a number of volumes of poetry (through Project Gutenberg) covering the period 1973 to 2019. Most of Mu Pi Chan's poetry is inspired by the world around him, particularly the natural world and the people of which he is fond. Other sources of inspiration are the works of other poets and books on philosophy, science, and religion. His poems include a number of parodies, jokes and poetic aphorisms based on these readings.Mu Pi Chan firmly believes that writing poetry allows him to release the thoughts in his head which would otherwise drive him mad.

Quarter 1
January 1
Through last night's haze
The new year
Slowly dawns
(1988)
The winter sky
Falls on the day
Chilling the ground
(1989)
The bare trees
And fallen leaves
Shine in the daylight
(1992)
Having fallen hard
You drop me
A harder step
(2000)
Another year
Starts
With me alone
(2007)
Rainy day
The new year
Starts with a shower
(2012)
January 2
Without this face
I cannot recognise
Myself
(1985)
At what point
Will i find
A line in the sand
(1997)
Body hurts
But you
Have hurt me more
(2000)
Thinking of you
My mind full
Of your beauty
(2002)
A new year
But old feelings
Confuse my horizons
(2005)
In the foothills of my mind
The bedrock is unstable
And prone to landslides
(2016)
January 3
Moon out
The sky's beauty
Is shown in full
(1988)
Along the road
The red lights
Guide me to work
(1989)
Within the flood waters
A whirlpool
Drags at my time
(2003)
Life escaping death
It is weak light
That slowly fades
(2005)
Rainy day
How i ponder
On your subtle silence
(2015)
Once again
A day has passed
The year grown older
(2018)
January 4
Sitting quietly
Doing nothing
Getting neither better nor worse
(1987)
My heart is empty
And the spring
Is frozen
(1989)
In the dark
Time passes
Without me
(1990)
Through a thin lonely cloud
The moon shines
Full circle
(2007)
As the path opens
The cold
Extinguishes my heart
(2009)
The wind blows
As i walk
Over sodden fields
(2018)
January 5
My nights are short
I sleep
Between dreams
(1989)
From Peaslake
To Pitch Hill
I slowly climb
(1997)
Deep golden path
In the fading light
How uncertain my footfalls
(1999)
What words
Now cross
Our final parting
(2003)
The hope
After the no
Is bitter-sweet agony
(2005)
Returning to work
First snow
Of the year
(2009)
January 6
Heart's feet
How rhythmically
You skip
(1989)
Chest heavy
How the cough
Weighs me down
(1991)
Across the endless sky
Birds stream
Like swirling clouds
(1999)
A new voice
Thoughtful
And controlled
(2007)
Soft rain
The water table
Being laid for summer
(2007)
The day dawns
And i feel
Only the bed's warmth
(2018)
January 7
Night sky
Your cold tears
Dampen my spirits
(1989)
In the light of tomorrow
I will remember today
And smile softly
(1999)
Resigned to being alone
I start a new life
Like any project
(2007)
More rain
And more cold
Yet i am improving
(2014)
As i contemplate the day
I find myself
Moving towards the future
(2015)
One week on
As the year proceeds
Reasons for change are changing
(2016)
January 8
Across the pond
Two waves coincide
And become as one
(1988)
My heart
Beats for life
And for you
(1996)
On the downs
The sun bright
And the views clear
(2012)
Sitting alone
So silent
Something not right
(2014)
Over a map
Part of me
Extends to Hope
(2015)
Time passes
When i'm pissed
The waves travelling nowhere
(2017)
January 9
In the west end
The east's mysteries
Piled high on shelves
(1988)
Around the reeds
The Lower Test
Extends itself
(2013)
Within my world
I turn slowly
Towards new uncertainties
(2015)
Rainy day
As the rain falls
Darkness creeps in
(2016)
January 10
Heavy day
Washing away
The week's grime
(1987)
Snowy morning
Not aching from skating
Except in my heart
(2009)
Too many possibilities
My morals
Cause great confusion
(2001)
Strange day
Seeing you at Lunch
Kept you in my thoughts
(2012)
Head buzzing
And throat sore
Tiredness my constant companion
(2017)
Across the meadows
The mist hangs
Ever fearful of the rising sun
(2018)
January 11
In a voice
Love shines
Through wires and time
(1988)
Flat land
Your wide rivers
Divide the fields
(1989)
Winter sky
Your grey lines
Are not bleak
(1996)
The more i think
The more i Love
And know its hopeless
(2013)
My love for you
Brings pain
And inspiration
(2015)
May the cold thoughts of night
Evaporate away
In the warm light of day
(2019)

Nothing to be done
Or not to be done
Right now

Different lives
Together in a pub

After dark
The rain
Shown by lights

Wondering again
What it is
I really want
(2009)
Lost in thought
My mind wandering
Nearer the brink
(2015)
In the warm light of day
The cold thoughts of night
No longer seem new
(2019)
January 13
Little man
How you grow
Without words
(1988)
Between the sheets
A morning
