    Time to Format

characters  Zoey (Fraser's Girlfriend), Austin a mechanic, Cheryl (Austin's Girlfriend, Fraser (The writer)

Setting a coastal town in the UK .

    Chapter One: Early morning

    'What's the hurry Zoey?'

'I'm meeting Cheryl in town for lunch, so another half an hour for the train, you can't preach keeping a planet clean and riding in your motor by yourself, its twenty minutes on the train and we can both have a couple of large wines for lunch'

'Three and it's a bottle, one thing the cafes and bars will benefit from a no drive culture, the police will be just be arresting drunks instead of stopping cars for speeding and other offences'

'Get free, get pissed, relax and live better'

'Stoned too, people will adapt in days, save a fortune not driving'

'Yep group shopping too, so when a cars out there's five in it, that's fun'

'Not a group scene for men,'

'That's soccer and beer or in your case Rum'

'Twenty in the garage watching the game on a large screen smoking spliffs and drinking, it's the way to go, the heavenly home brew readily on tap and boxes of warm steak rolls'

    'So how is it going'

'Re-formatting planet earth so the new way to live can be installed, unfortunately education presents some misguided ideals on the work front, we activate our somewhat dormant brains, certainly under used and so wish for greater things, achieve more which leads us to cherish, revel and adore consumer goods which are nowadays constantly thrust in our faces by on-line'

    'All you need is love'

'Reboot the planet with love, everybody helps one another, no war, no money, prosperity achieved by peace and sharing'

    'Sex too'

'Wrap ourselves around each other and embody our souls as one as we spend hours in copulation'

    'We still need the TV'

'Uh huh, for the intermissions before we return to loving other, whispering delightful titifications into each other ears'

'Yes, wrong word their writer man, scrabble wonder girl here, whispering sweet nothings to titify our minds, distancing ourselves from the years which we have slowly gathered clutter; the incense of vice clouding our visions away from a life of beauty and tranquility'

    'Easily influenced'

'Too right men are, short skirt, sexy stockings and knickers and you're hooked'

    'So you're?'

'In control, so we girls or ladies have a lot more to answer for in general as we're fond of the many luxuries life have to offer, in general men don't bother that much, a football bouncing and being kicked around a pitch with copious amounts of beer to drink and you're satisfied, women are far more complex'

'Simplicity is the key for an eco planet'

'We've actually achieved to make a completely different planet from the one that was  intended for us to harmoniously live in, nature had a balance of which we are now far removed from'

    'Back to basics'

'Re-formatting is a wondrous idea, but you'd had to do all of us which presently is regarded as brainwashing so not highly regarded'

'We're not a machine, stick in your floppy, nowadays USB stick, after the format and install the desired programs with ways for us to live our lives'

'Governments and religions do that loosely, indoctrinate all with ideals that this is the way to go'

'Under the illusions of democracies that are capitalist based where a few actually end up with the most and the majority are poor'

'Some buy football clubs which are a generous fall back from their gains in other areas'

'Indeed, the huge salaries that players demand leaves little profit to be gained'

    'They inspire youngsters'

'I'm off, I expect you'll go down to the Quay and look out over the waters till you seek out some method in your mind to influence people away from their compulsive spending habits where they always fall for the fifty per cent off for one'

'They'll tag any inroads to filling their shopping baskets or wardrobes with distrust and with religious connections'

'You'll be tagged a do-gooder after his own ends, the same with this whole climate change thing, if the governments are not wholly supporting it, its fishy, of course if they do the economies of the world would change and more would be starving than already are, at the end of the day its all logical but there appears to be a few around who are'

    'A dilemma'

'You're consciously intertwined with planet so feel it whinging and groaning'

    'You think so?'

'Oh you're in tune, I'm just about to go to lunch and shop so well out of tune, you thinkers will suss it, whether what you envisage falls on stoney ground is another matter'

    'Selling the dream of utopia'

'Develop a drug that people are under the impression in there minds they are in one would be easier, think on that one, easy to achieve as most are fond of pills of some description or another, have a pleasant day'

    'Possible'

Cheryl leaves the bedroom, Fraser picks up a pad and starts to make notes, flicks through some channels on the flat screen TV on the wall, then onto online and settles for a nondescript series for background company.

Chapter Two: Later in the day

Fraser and Austin are sat outside a bar overlooking a harbour and sea beyond.

'So you want reboot the planet after you've wiped slate clean'

    'Yes Fraser'

'You need to take all 7 billion of us into a parallel universe at the same time, so not possible with this one'

'It would most likely be similar one from this one'

'Not if you fell back a hundred or so years, in the space of two hundreds years a mere pinprick in time we've managed to so seriously damage our home planet with no apparent alternative to hop onto'

    'It's not exactly recyclable'

    'Hey?'

'Most of the rubbish we produce and we need more land not less, so rising waters aren't the one'

'I reckon forces unknown will sort it out, we as a race will decimated by one means or another and as it's all recorded some beings somewhere will benefit with the information on our demise'

'We're pretty cool at generating art, music and inventions in our quest for excellence and advancement, on the way to achieving all these wonderments has been at cost Austin'

'Convenience, from microwaves to cars on the drive'

'Cell phones too, you don't have to move off the couch to the fridge and microwave whilst you're TV soaps are on, just get it delivered'

'That also saves going out to but it in the first place in most cases, we're the same but at least we return our cartons to the Chinese take aways'

'Yes you'd have difficulty in storing up the hundred odd dishes they serve up as well.'

'Yep those guys are on a winner there, all cooked to perfection as well, in a way saving energy as well, one kitchen preparing a thousand odd meals a day as opposed to a thousand kitchens burning a whole load of energy to do one meal, Fraser'

'An upper class society fuelled climate change'

'To a virtual classless one where everyone had most of the luxuries as well, like a toilet in the house,
