      Introduction

      Having published 500 Prayers for All Occasions and 500 More Prayers for All Occasions I was asked to develop a new series of books of prayer for use in small groups or in the home.

      There are at least forty prayers in each of these books based around a single theme. Most of the content comes from my first two books of prayer for public worship, but has been revised and re-worked to make it appropriate for use in churches, small groups, the family situation, or for personal quiet time devotions.

      My church background was firmly in the camp of extemporary prayer. I started to write my prayers down due to nervousness and on the advice of my preaching mentor who insisted on
