Foreword
A practical, sensible and realistic guide on how to use free and low cost, easily available tools, to attract, build and keep a loyal base of responsive customers who actually want to be exposed to your regular marketing messages!
Internet Marketing for Beginners strips away all of the complicated stuff, and gives you the simple steps where you can focus all of your energy. The book shows you how to create the components you need to have your business reach and engage with real customers, on their terms, in the real world.
Not only is it a technical how to, written in a way that anyone can follow, but it also exposes all the tricks
& mechanics of the get rich quick internet marketing schemes that bombard your inbox every day. There has been much in the media recently about so called internet marketing scams which promise easy riches but deliver very little. What makes these business models questionable is the product they are selling, usually this is a case of customers buying advice on how to get rich online and all they get is something that shows them how to sell advice on getting rich online. The same old scam that has been around for years, just with the online bit added!
What is unquestionable about these business models is that they are incredibly successful for their proprietors, because they are able to reach millions of people, quickly, easily and cheaply, plus they are able to convince these people to buy from them, even if what they are selling is rubbish! Whilst there may be little merit in the products these companies are selling, there is a lot of merit in the methods they are using and we can learn from that to use successful internet marketing methods in legitimate business. So we reveal those secrets in this book, but rather than force you to sign up to some anonymous sales page that offers vague promises, this book guarantees to provide information for anyone who wants to either launch an internet business of their own or use advanced internet marketing techniques to reach new customers for an already established business.
In Internet Marketing for Beginners
, you will learn
How to create products and services, so you don't waste time with things that wont work
Even if you already have a business with a range of products and services, how to use the information that already exists inside your business to create products solely for the purpose of marketing.
How to market those products on-line to avoid wasting money on unnecessary activities
How to create a site on which to sell and eliminate the need to hire expensive web designers.
If you already have a web site for your business, why a separate marketing site is a valuable tool
Tried and tested models to save you from time-consuming mistakes
Insights into the internet marketing industry so you know how the internet works as a business tool
Plain and simple, step-by-step instructions allows even non-experienced, non-tech savvy people to succeed with an Internet Marketing model.
If you are tired of all the hype and just want educational and intelligent information so you can build a successful business or marketing campaign, let Internet Marketing for Beginners
be your guide.
Introduction
We reveal the secret to getting your web site up and running in one click and having millions of $$$ rolling into your bank account while you sleep.
All you have to do to take advantage of this once in a lifetime offer, is to buy our amazing secrets, which you can do (conveniently) from the comfort of your own home, simply by entering your credit card details.
But you must hurry because there is limited availability and the early bird special offer expires in the next 5 minutes.
Does that sound at all familiar to you?
Have you ever taken a look around the internet for ways of marketing a business or making money online?
You are bound to have heard of people becoming millionaires, virtually overnight on the internet and there are many web sites promoting a service or set of products that will help you to do just that.
Typically these web sites comprise a single and very long web page, sometimes with a video at the top and then a LOT of text to read through. The text will contain glowing references from many customers telling you how their lives have changed and there will be some incredible incentives to buy now, such as 3 or 4 free extras that are often worth more than the purchase price individually!
Sounds too good to be true? Well I can assure you that when something sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
In researching this book I have personally signed up for many, many of these amazing, money back, nothing to loose offers and in every case I have found that there is a lot of work and a lot of luck required on the part of the purchaser and a set of virtually impossible conditions that you are required to adhere to if you want to claim on the money back guarantee.
Like with anything in life, becoming an overnight internet success is the exception rather than the rule. Think about becoming a pop superstar for example. There are millions of teenagers around the world, right now, in their bedrooms, cranking out songs on YouTube, hoping to hit the big time. This kind of thing is made highly popular by TV shows which are essentially massive, global talent competitions which make the fame and fortune seem almost tangible.
But, let's look at the reality of this situation. It is impossible to know the exact figures, because nowhere is it recorded how many people have an attempt at starting a band or singing career. But you can bet your bottom dollar that no more than a very small percentage of those who start on this path ever actually become successful. It is the same with sports stars or business people, stock traders or lottery winners. Only a very small percentage of people, in any walk of life, actually become exceptionally wealthy at their chosen path. Most fall by the wayside, either scraping a meager living or changing career paths altogether and starting just a regular job.
If you go for broke, there is a 99% chance that you will end up broke! So this book is about the 99% of us who are not going become internet millionaires but would like to have the autonomy of running our own businesses or being successful marketers inside the safe constructs of an already established company.
So no freebies here I’m afraid, just good, solid, tried and tested principles of what I have learned from my adventures in Internet Marketing in a clear, step by step plan that anyone can follow. You can buy this book from good old fashioned book stores (or even those modern, fancy internet stores) and have a browse through the pages before making a purchase decision and not have to act on impulse for fear of loosing that oh so special time limited offer. This plan takes you through the following activities and by the end of it you will be able to create a web business or market an existing business online in a way that is very likely to generate increased revenue. The set up costs are not astronomical by any means and well within the reach of most people even on a personally funded budget. In many cases the tools I show you here are actually free to use.
When writing this book it became clear that it could be used as a guide for people who want to take a safe, risk free path to replacing their regular job income with multiple stream of residual income from internet businesses but at the same time it could also be used by people who actually have a job they like a lot and who do not wish to leave it. Whichever you are, you should feel free to use the concepts in this book in the context that is most appropriate to your circumstances.
Background
I learnt to build web sites back in the mid ‘90s when the internet was just a youngster that no-one had heard of and not many people really wanted to hang out with. It was a tricky friend to play with, we used to connect via modems and were quite conscious of the cost of being online, especially when the boss got the phone bill at the end of the month! The speed of connectivity was incredibly slow too with often a single image taking 30 seconds to fully render in our browsers. Locating things was problematic, you needed a bit of a degree in psychology to deal with the primitive search engines of the day, but there is nothing to teach you patience better than waiting for an image of your favourite centerfold downloading at a rate of one pixel every second!
As well as spending far too much time doing things my mother had warned me against, I created a few web sites for friends and local businesses, which were no more that a few simple pages telling the world what the business did and some of these even managed to pick up a few passing strangers, although I’ve not the slightest idea if any of these sites actually recruited any paying customers for any of the businesses. This of course is in the days before Google and we were reliant on search engines like Alta Vista, Lycos and Yahoo! With comparatively few web sites out there, passing traffic was easy to pick up.
Of course, things changed and the whole internet became much more sophisticated in an unprecedentedly short space of time. With so many people, worldwide, competing on exactly the same stage, with access to each other’s information and developments within minutes of anything being released, the competition drove the internet to where it is now. This pace continues and even accelerates to the point where teenagers in their bedrooms can literally become multi-millionaires.
My first foray into creating a web site that would actually make money was with a site called www.AspiringMultiMillionaires.com - it is not there any more and there is a good reason for that – I didn’t have the first clue what I was doing! But I learned many valuable lessons and eventually created a site called www.BIRTReporting.com, which does make money and has formed the basis for the business model that I am going to present to you in this book. I have used that model to create several other sites, such as Maximo-World.com, Bappoo.com, photography-adventure.com and the companion site to this book:
www.How-NOT-to-be-an-Internet-Millionaire.com
Now here is the thing, I am not an internet millionaire, but I am living quite a comfortable life off the earnings from my web sites and I have helped a number of people to start similar businesses or become successful in their jobs. It is pretty much impossible to fail to make some money or achieve some measure of success using these methods and whilst it probably won't make you rich, it stands a really good chance of being able to give you the freedom of being self employed or having a strong, solid career.
How it Works
This book is about how to create an online business or create a web site that can be used to promote an existing business. That business could
