    Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour

    "In you, my confidence lay.

    I saw the torrents flow against me

    But you inspired me to go."

    The above verse, in 77, aptly captures the key message in these psalms for prayers. Although the writer’s confidence in God is unshakable, as each psalm portrays, nevertheless, he finds time to call upon the GREAT ONE to hasten and rescue him from a difficult situation or the evil one, as prayed in 13 below –

    "Where are you, Lord?

    Let me see the Lord of Hosts.

    The one and only mighty God."

    1

    Rescue

    O’ Lord, save me.

    Save me from the hand of the wicked.

    Save me from their gang up.

    They gang up against me in evil shrines,

    Under the surface of the ocean. They hatch plots,

    Bragging, as if they created their place of abode.

    They challenge your omnipotent authority,

    Saying that your servant will fall into their trap

    But, I know you look down from Heaven,

    Smiling at their foolishness

    Because your son shall not be put to shame.

    O’ Lord, I place my faith in you.

    You are my hope.

    My hope is firm as my faith.

    You have never disappointed me.

    Come quickly and save your son.

    2

    Praise

    O’ Yahweh, the Mighty One in battle,

    Your warriors are as sharp and fierce

    As a double-edge sword.

    You who command the greatest army;

    Your command reverberates from your throne.

    Your warriors number like the stars of the heavens.

    Their battle cry sends shivers down the spine.

    Their strength is next to none.

    They slay satanic agents without mercy,

    Cutting them into pieces.

    All that threatens your chosen ones;

    Those you have anointed for greatness.

    O’ Yahweh, indeed you are the creator that commands.

    3

    Praise

    The whirlwind that creates from invisibility;

    You travel faster than the sound of a voice.

    You are spirit but visible,

    Invisibility made visible.

    The one that answers to no one

    Instead, we are answerable to you.

    All crave for your attention;

    You give and take.

    You invigilate from your throne

    Setting guidelines like the examiner you are.

    The earth is your foot mat,

    Letting your feet be a hiding place

    For those that pay obeisance to your authority.

    4

    Mercy

    Never let me perish in my sins;

    I am not worthy to call upon your name

    Because, you demand holiness.

    Sanctity of the heart is your injunction;

    Obedience to you, my Lord, is better than sacrifice

    And I have not been keeping your statutes.

    I have been living in the flesh,

    Walking on the path that leads to death,

    Tasting the forbidden food that causes the soul to sour.

    Fornication has laid groundwork in my eyes,

    Adultery has replaced my urge for energetic thought.

    Merciful Lord, will you forgive me?

    Will you let me die in sin?

    Remember, you are the merciful one;

    Your kindness knows no bounds.

    Give me another chance, O’ Lord;

    I will never walk these dirty paths again.

    I am sorry I have sinned.

    Never let me perish in my sins, Lord.

    5

    Congregation

    Come into our midst, O’ God;

    We have gathered for ourselves, Lord,

    In the great promise you made to your children.

    In obedience
