So I never thought I would actually be using this thing. My grandmother from my step-dad's side of family got me this. I thought it was only going to be used as a coaster or just thrown somewhere, and forgotten about. But, actually this thing came to be a very good thing.
CHAPTER ONE
June 6th
It’s 10:30 AM, and I heard a soft knock at my door. Just waking up, you can be a little confused about what is going on especially when you get in late the night before. I stumbled out of my bed and shuffled to the door and Maria, my parent’s housekeeper, was standing there with her head bowed down. Seeing Maria like that was a shock because she is usually an upbeat woman.
'Uh...Uh... Am I in trouble again, Maria?
I asked her as I rubbed my eyes.
Yes you are, Seth, your Stepfather's going on about you to your Mom, giving all your bad points like an automatic firing quick rounds.
said Maria.
"He would, the son of a bitch...' I said out of complete anger.
Seth!
Maria snapped.
Sorry, Maria, but I'm 22 for Christ's sake!
I said out of exasperation.
Closing the door I jump over the pile of last nights clothes catch my foot on the end of the bed, trip and knock seven bells out of the wardrobe with my head! Did someone say its an anti Seth day?
Walking to the main house gave me this feeling that I was being summoned for something I either did or am going to get accused of doing.
When I walked into their house, I saw my mom, Donna, and my pathetic excuse for a stepfather, Peter, sitting there staring me down. I wouldn’t have to have a stepfather if my mom would have chosen a winner the first time around. But of course, both times, she loves them, and they end being useless, rude, and leaving her. This time though I think they will be staying together. No one speaks of Ashley and I's real father. And of course, Ashley isn’t here; she goes between here and New York, and wherever else. She is some kind of fashion model. But I am sure if Ashley was here, they would have summoned her too. It feels like our mom and Peter hate Ashley and I's lifestyles, and do this regularly, the calling us down to lecture us thing. But I just can’t take it anymore. I mean I’m 22 years old, and running away from home would be childish, but it feels like that’s my only option now. Granted, I live away from home
in a way. I have my own house on the same property as my parents, so I don’t get why they do this to us.
Seth, ever since you turned 21, you have turned into this person that we don't even know. It's like you’re a new man. We also think your friend Logan isn't setting the best example for you.
Peter said, while my mom just sat there drinking her martini, and nodding her head.
Seriously, why are you doing this? You could care less about me. I would say you are doing this because of my mom, but she doesn't seem to be saying anything. Obviously you have brainwashed her some how.
I said getting very very angry with every word.
Seth, you really need-
And before he could finish, this came out of my mouth, You’re not my father, so shut the hell up!
I stormed out of there and went back to my house
. And since right now, I could care less what goes on; I took out the cigarettes my mom never wanted me smoking on the property, and tried to relax a bit. Actually, I think a few will be good. Right after these, I am leaving. Hopefully my best friend Logan will be home. I have known Logan since we were four. We are each other’s wingmen; we have each other’s backs for everything.
Getting in my Mercedes I was a little crazy because of what just went down, because I always took it, and never did anything about it until now. Driving in the condition I was in wasn't such a good idea, but I was ok.
Thank god, Logan was home, and thank god, he only lives ten minutes away. I figured he wasn’t awake yet because we didn’t get in till about 4 AM the night before. So I just let myself in. We each have a key to each other’s place.
Now I didn’t want to wake him up, so I quietly went into his kitchen where he keeps his drinks…and by drinks, I mean alcohol. But when I walked in Logan was already awake at the table eating some cereal. I looked at him and I’m sure he could tell something was wrong by the way I looked. Logan didn’t even have to ask, I just told him everything that had happened. Logan suggested that I go to the spare room and get some rest because we were going back out later. Logan said that it would help me, and who knows who you’ll meet out there.
He offered me to stay as long as I wanted.
He has known for a while that the family problems were getting worse, and they were soon to erupt, and that they did. So after sleeping for what felt like twenty hours, but really was only nine, Logan and I got ready for a night that I would soon never forget.
I asked him where we were going as we got in his Maserati. And all he told me was that we were headed to a new little café/bar place that he heard of called Luna. Logan knows of all these places that I have never heard of before in my life, even though I know of a lot of places.
We pulled up to the place, and I thought Logan said it was little, but this place was huge, but looked like fun for sure. Of course, the valet was there to help right away. And something I’ve never seen before, you got an escort into the place. I don’t know whose idea it was to have beautiful girls as the escorts, but they sure picked the right ones. Our escort brings us to the bar, my favorite place when I’m out. My drink of choice? A rum and coke, please?
I got my rum and coke and Logan got his beer, and we went to one of the little lounge areas they had. As we are sitting there, this girl and her friend walked over and sat down kind of near us, but not close enough to talk. As she sat down, I couldn't take my eyes off of her. It was like I was in a trance or something. Seriously, she had to be about 5’4 or something, with long brown hair, nicely tanned skin, and was simply perfect. She had to be the girl of my dreams or something because I couldn’t stop staring. She’s perfect! Her friend was a little taller than she is, but with blonde hair. They looked like your typical wealthy club girls, but there was something different about the one. Logan noticed me staring at her.
Usually I am shy around girls like that. I don’t know why. I mean I am a good looking guy with plenty of money, why do I get so shy? But you know what, I had to do something. I could have missed out on the best thing to happen to me, and I really needed a girl like that right now. So Logan egged me on enough till I got the courage to get up and talk to her. Even though she wasn’t far away at all, it felt like she was ten miles away.
I saw you sitting here, and had to come up, and talk to you.
I said to her. I stuck out my hand to shake hers, her hand so soft that I didn’t want to let go.
My name's Seth.
I said while still holding her hand.
She pulled her hand away, and said, Mine's Chloe.
She gave me one of those cute, yet shy smiles.
Her name really stuck out in my mind for some reason.
"This is the first time I've ever been here. It really nice here, but do you know what makes it even nicer? I said hoping what I said wasn't too creepy.
I saw her smiling while we are talking, so I’m guessing she liked me as much as I liked her.
"This is my first time here too. Is what I think made this place better the same as you?
But for some reason, something felt off.
I called Logan over, so I could introduce her to him. She then called her friend Anna over. We all seemed to be get along, but that thing that felt off was still there. As we’re talking, I slipped her this napkin with my phone number, and wrote on it, what’s yours? As she opened it, I saw a look that could have killed, like she was disgusted or annoyed by what I did. I didn’t understand that look at all, and it gave me great doubts about her and myself, but I still couldn’t stop thinking about her.
She gave me the napkin back, and it had her number on it with a heart next to it, which is better than nothing. After she did that, she and Anna got up and left. A small hug was exchanged, and while she walked away I saw her putting a number into her phone, so I’m assuming it was mine. After they had left, I didn’t feel like being out anymore, so I made Logan take me home. On the way home, I looked at the clock, it was about 1 AM. I didn’t realize how long we’d been there, but all I could think about was Chloe. Was I not enough for her? I mean we just met, but I felt something real. Or was she just doing that? Or did I just make a big mistake?
CHAPTER TWO
June 7th
The day after my crazy day, I still had all the same thoughts as I did yesterday. I just don’t understand what I have could have done for any of them to treat me that way. My mom, Peter, and then Chloe. I thought how I handled Chloe was right. I’ve seen how guys treat the girls at those clubs, and what I did wasn’t nearly as bad.
I went around the house all day saying this stuff over and over again. Logan must have thought I was crazy. Well, I am. Crazy about Chloe. So, why did she do that? Logan has to think there is something wrong with me. I’ve never been like this. I have never fallen for a girl like I have for Chloe. But maybe this is why I never do this kind of thing. It always seems to be this way, I just don’t understand it.
Maybe I shouldn’t do this my way, and do it the way the rest of the guys do it. Maybe girls like that. I don’t see how they could though. But you know there are so many girls in this world, so who really knows. Maybe I will just forget about Chloe, and just go out and meet someone else.
But I can’t! Chloe sticks out too much in my mind to do that. I thought it was going well and we were hitting it off. But I must of had it all wrong. I think that maybe I should become just another guy. I think that is what I am going to have to do.
Logan was telling me the same thing. You hardly knew this girl, why you getting all worked up about it!?
My heart just needed to shut up, so I could figure everything out. If it would shut up, I don’t think this would be so hard. God! I need a cigarette! Yes, that will help, hopefully. I’ll smoke that and hope all my worries will go away.
Ahhh…..actually it did help. See, nicotine does help, but is very bad for you. You know what? I don’t need Chloe around, I hardly knew her. I’ll do as Logan says and go out and find myself some other girls. I don’t know how he does it, but I’m gonna give it a try. I wonder where Logan and I are will go tonight, hopefully somewhere there are plenty of girls at my disposal. I think that will be good for me; it will, as they say, do a body good. I’m not looking for the one
anymore. That’s over. Obviously, she isn’t out there because each time I thought I found her it turns out badly.
After hours going on about this either to myself or to Logan, enough was enough. I could tell Logan was getting annoyed with me, and to be honest I was also getting annoyed with myself. Why was I doing this? I’m a good looking, wealthy, stand up guy who I’m sure can get any girl I wanted if I tried. So tonight, wherever Logan and I go, I promise you, I will leave with some girl.
Logan always drove no matter what. He drinks, but not like me. I’m the big drunk, but it’s all in good fun. I’m not an alcoholic....yet, and I won’t be. I can limit myself. But tonight we went to one of our favorite places, Maxim. Maxim is this really nice nightclub where you kind of have to get dressed up to get in. So either if you’re rich, poor, or just in the middle you all look the same, but you could tell who is who. But for me, this time in my life, it doesn’t matter. Whatever girl catches my eye first is the girl I’m gonna take home, unless she rejects, but I don’t see that happening, But if it were to happen, I was positive I would find another.
At this place, there are tons of girls everywhere from age 21 to 50. The older women could be spotted a mile away. There are the ones that try to look like they are 21, 22, 23, but fail miserably, and they just look a mess. And you know none of them are going home with anyone, but themselves. But enough about them, on to much better things. So with my rum and coke in my hand, Logan and I scoped the place out. We saw the usual people that are there whenever we are there, but you get the occasional newbies. Sometimes the newbie’s are worth it, and some are just downright disgusting that the words NEXT want to come out of your mouth. Logan always told me, the first girl you see you have to go after.
But none have been worth me doing that yet. Trust me, the girls here were gorgeous, but none so far that I want to take home. But I need to stop being so picky and just do it. HAHA just do it, sorry.
As we stood there, this girl walked past us to go to the bar. As she walked by me, we made eye contact for about 3 seconds. From that I told Logan, she was the girl I was taking home tonight. I just know I will. She wanted me; I could totally tell, and I was definitely feeling her. But I turned to look at the bar, and she wasn’t there. What? Where did she go?
I turned back to Logan, and found him talking to her.
