About this ebook

There are many versions of folklore Vampire. This novel is my vision of a vampire. Can Vampires love without draining the one they love dry? Is their blood magical? So many questions, so many answers. Yes, this is a vampire romance, but as I said it is my vision. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoy writing it. And if you didn't then write your own Vampire Romance I would love to read it.

No Cliffhanger.

I live in the small town of Kaufman, Texas with my husband Michael. We have no children, but do have one dog and one cat.Besides writing I enjoy sitting down with some yarn and a hook and creating afghans and blankets as well as baby and toddler clothes. I also enjoys putting my feet up with a good book with the dog at my feet and the cat in my lap.Writing has always been a dream for me, now I'm taking the steps towards making that dream come true.

    About The Author

    Prologue - Michael Vincent

Isn't it funny what one remembers usually things one would rather forget, the sad times, the disturbing times, the fights, the disappointments, the sacrifices. Over two hundred years ago today I made a choice that changed my life forever. A choice I've been trying to correct ever since.

I've never had to be alone, my kind can lead a normal life and I tried a few times. I came to realize that it is best to stay alone at least in the love department. You see the one thing that sucks about my life is that I've said good bye to so many friends I've buried two wives and an untold amount of friends. Very few of them knew what I really am. Thankful I've never had any children and rightfully so because this is no life. I don't know if I would be able to watch my child grow up age past me and then die. It was hard enough saying good bye to my wives.

I'm sure there is others of my kind that enjoy living our lives. I use to too, maybe I will again some day.

    Star Rose

For as far back as I can remember I've always wanted to be a police detective. Yeah, I was a big fan of the detective shows on television, Columbo, Perry Mason, Dragnet, Matlock, I can go on and on.

I made my dream come true last year I'm now finally a detective. I only wish I had a better partner. He's actually a really nice guy he's just at the end of his career. He's been a detective for over 30 years. I've learned a lot from him, but he's ready for retirement. He's so much as told me so.

    Chapter One - Michael Vincent

I had just moved to Philadelphia and was walking the town, learning it, listening to it. It really is true if you stop and listen cities especially the larger ones really do have a heart beat.

One night I was standing and listening when I heard footsteps fast approaching. I stepped back into the darkness of a doorway. A man ran by and then I heard her, 'Stop! Police!' I waited. A police woman ran by and I stepped out from my hiding spot and followed. When I heard the gun fire I picked up my pace. When I rounded the corner the young man and police woman stood facing one another guns drawn.

Put the gun down, Simon. The officer said.

Never, copper. I heard the young man say.

The officer was going to die. I've seen this situation play out more times than I can count and more times than not the officer usually gets shot. I'm usually one to let fate play out, but something was telling me I couldn't let that happen this time. I just hope everything happens fast enough that it confuses the officer.

I run pass her and directly at the man. I get to him but not before he fires. I take the hit but don't slow down. I knock the gun to the ground and the man too as I continue down the alley.

Being shot is never fun and you never get use to it either. When you get around to choosing what to dig the bullet out with is may more fun.

Once I'm far enough away I leap to the roof of the buildings and make my way back. As I'm nearing a police car pulls into the alley. The police woman walks the man to the car and places him in the back. She leans into the front through the passenger side window before walking back down the alley to where the shooting took place. She stands for a moment hands on her hips then just shakes her head and turns away and leaves.

I follow her staying to the roof tops until she reached her own patrol car back at what appears to be one of those mom and pops grocery stores.

After she pulls away I drop down to the side walk and walk up to the store. I smell it even before I see it. Blood! I step inside acting like I have no idea what happen.

    Hello? Is everyone alright?

An Asian woman comes out from the back. I can see she's been crying.

    I. . .I'm sorry but we are closed.

She looks as if she's going to collapse I hurry to her as she goes to fall. I gather her into my arms and hold her as she starts to cry.

    Someone was hurt? I ask.

    She just nods her head.

    Your husband?

    D. .dau. . .daughter. . . She finally gets out and wraps her arms around me and the crying takes over.

My name is Michael Vincent McKnight. Do you know what hospital they took your daughter too?

She again just shakes her head. I pull out my cell phone and call a friend for a ride. A few minutes later Paul pulls up. He comes inside and hands me the keys.

Go. I'll see to this place. I'll have the boys board it up for the night.

    Thanks, Paul.

    Chapter Two - Michael Vincent

After being in town over a year now getting to know the place I decided on what I wanted to do. I've had all the paperwork and files done back twenty years to cover myself. I’ve been a lot of things in my past, doctor, electrician, magician, military medic or multiple countries, the list goes on and on. I am now Michael Vincent McKnight, P.I. I found an abandoned building and made it my home and business. The office is nothing fancy, just a desk, comfy chair, top of the line computer, filing cabinet with made up files and a coffee station. I much prefer whiskey, but I don't think that would go well with customers.

I was browsing the net when a woman walked in.

    Mr. McKnight? She asks.

Yes, please come in. Have a seat. Once she's seated in front of me I continue. What can I help you with?

"My son has been kidnapped. The police
