- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5A short story that packs a big punch! Contains lovely lessons about the faith of a child. Bible verses and recipes and short snipets from the author are posted throughout the main story. This one will make you think and stay with you long after you have finished reading!
- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5This short story about a young foster child at Christmas gets right to the point. Christmas is a time for hope and belief in God. This foster child’s shoe box contains all the things that meant something to him, and he always carries it with him, until the end of the story. An interesting part of this tale is the backstory about how the author came up with the idea for this tender and inspirational Christmas story.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I love Francine Rivers' books. Her writing style draws you in and keeps you engaged. The Shoe Box was a good read in preparation for Christmas. It exemplified the true meaning of Christmas. The added bonus was the Advent devotional at the end of the book. Each week focused on a different gift that we received as a result of accepting Jesus into our heart.
- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This was a reminder of the simplicity of prayer and intimacy with the Father

- Rating: 1 out of 5 stars1/5Really sugary story about a foster child who carries around a shoe box everywhere, until he leaves it for Jesus in the Nativity play
- Rating: 3 out of 5 stars3/5This small little book had alot of delightful recipes, a story, a Bible reading and thoughts from the author. Though the story was short, it was very meaningful and the recipes were inviting and I enjoyed reading the Christmas story from the Bible passages she printed. Would make a lovely Christmas gift for someone dear to you.
