Sides
––––––––
We are the broken frames
Of the pictures smashed
By the intrusion of your sincerely-held belief
While our supposed allies
Desperately plead for civility
Ours
They mean
We are the missing member
Of the invalid family
Without the required pluses and minuses
For ours to count as valid
From those who espouse family values
Theirs
They mean
We are the burnt remains
Of the strategic violence
That bases our identities on the burnt and scarred
While they debate which crimes can be hate
When the victim’s identity makes them feel icky
Ours
They mean
We are the unchecked anger
From neither side
Of your endless double standards
Because we stopped playing the same game as you
When we learned you had different rules for us
Theirs
I mean
She
––––––––
She
The pure androgyny
That illustrious grin
The intoxicating laugh
She
Is the one
I think of at night
When dreams are faded
And she
Is what remains
A fantasy unblurred
She
The voice of dreams
The illuminated silhouette
The tender grasp
She
The loving embrace
The one I seek
The one I crave
Complete infinity
Her touch unparalleled
She
The love undying
The unrelinquishing
The perfected imperfection
She
The gorgeous spectre
The evenflow of awakening
The bringer of solace
She’s the one
I’ve Traveled
––––––––
I’ve traveled through iron ridges
Wind farms on the freeway
Dissociation trips
And along the great rocks
Trying to get my best look
At the eyes
That render me helpless
I’ve traveled through states
That legislate against me
Going stealth to be
