Called From Christianity to Discipleship - Mary Sheckles-Jones

    Dedication

C:\Users\latonya.brown\Pictures\mauriceFB_IMG_1540580565028.jpg I dedicate this book to my dearly departed and loving brother Maurice E. Stallard, who was suddenly and senselessly taken away from my family on October 24, 2018.  While shopping for a poster board in a Kroger grocery store with his grandson, my brother suddenly became victim of a horrendous hate crime that made national news.

My brother was a wonderful and caring husband, brother, father, grandfather, uncle and son. The pillar of his community and a rock to our family.  When finishing this book, I asked him to come with me to meet with the publisher.  My meeting was on that dreadful day, October 24, 2018.  He told me, You do not need me to come with you to the meeting, you got this. That was my last conversation with my brother.

As I have written this lesson of Christianity to Discipleship with his blessing and encouragement, that day he was teaching me a lesson.  He was teaching me to know my worth. To value myself. To trust my judgement. To believe in my talents, and to know my strength.  Thank you, my wonderful brother, for that valuable lesson. I got it—And I got this.

This is why I dedicate this book to you with all my love.  You exuded strength. And now your strength will live in us all.

    Love, Mary

My brother Thomas Stallard for constantly encouraging me, always saying LET GOD USE YOU GIRL.

Now to my beautiful children, LaTonya R. Brown and Roy L. Sheckles, there are no words that can express my love for you both.  Just thank you both for your directions while preparing this book.

    Introduction

This is not a story about my life, this is about changing the life of anyone who feels that God has called them to become a disciple or a disciple-maker, to complete what Jesus had started.  This will challenge one to examine their life to see if they can change their perspective.  This challenge is the GREAT COMMISSION.

The following pages have some prerequisites that will change your live.  Requisitions that will cause you to examine yourself.  Are you willing to see if you can finish the work that Jesus had started?  Read on, see I had to examine myself just to see if I qualify.

These requisitions that I had formulated are from notes that I had written to myself years ago.

    Christianity To Discipleship

Making disciples is the number one mandate of Jesus according to Matthew 28:19-20.

As recorded in Matthew 28:16-20, Jesus charged His disciples to go out into the world and make disciples of all men.

Jesus had the world on His heart, He wanted His disciples to see the world as He saw it.  He wanted them to see all the goodness in the world. His vision of reaching the world is the use of multiplying disciples.
