She has actively participated in several different ministries, including teaching Sunday school for all different ages during the course of her thirty-two years of service to the Lord. She has written freelance articles and a blog called, “Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.” She has come full circle and lives in Reno, Nevada, where she was born. She has two grown children and seven grandchildren, and through healing and restoration, she is breaking the generational cycles of abuse in her own family and hopes to reach others to offer encouragement.

      THERE ARE MANY THINGS THAT CAN BE said about the author of this book. Barbara has such a humble spirit coupled with a quiet but strong demeanor while encompassing a Christ-like love for people. These are just some of the great characteristics that help define Barbara, however, make no mistake about it, her God- given ability to overcome her circumstances, her faith in God to see a brighter future, and by her unquenchable desire to fulfill God’s plan for her life, has given her the platform to speak such needed understanding about one of the greatest stories ever told by Jesus.

      If you ever felt like you were meant for more, yet have settled for less in life, this book, The Woman at the Well is for you.       LOVE, JOY, PEACE, PATIENCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, GENTLENESS and self-control, these are such things that I lived by day by day for the last thirty some years serving our Lord, so how did I come to this place that I am right now. Four failed marriages. How on earth does a born-again, spirit-filled woman get to this point in her life. Broken hearted, hurt, angry, disappointed, ready to give up on everything, how does this happen? This journey that I am on with the Lord has been a long hard road but I would not change one single life lesson I have learned. The woman at the well sounds just like me. I can relate to her story but it is not a story of shame and judgment, but a story of our Lord’s grace, mercy and forgiveness. Over the course of this book we are going to explore the amazing grace that saved a wretch like me and the wonderful revelations that I have come to understand through my personal relationship with the Lord.

      Before we get started, I have to make it clear that this is a story of restoration and hope for someone who was hopeless. On Easter Sunday 1980 the most wonderful life changing event happened in my life that would spin my life into a different direction, a direction with purpose and healing of past hurts. I was in a church, a dry old church, filled with singing stale hymns, gossiping and having Sunday pot lucks. I needed something in my life and that was the only place I knew to go. The Lord met me where I was at, a predestined, pre-appointed time in my life during that particular Sunday service. The Lord will meet you where you are.

      You see, my parents had come from backgrounds of bad church experiences and did not really understand the meaning of salvation. My father had been raised Catholic and ran away from home when he was seventeen enlisting in the Navy. He hated his strict upbringing and did not want me to be exposed to the Catholic religion. I have often wondered because of the stories he had told me about his childhood if he had been one of victims of child molestation that has been come to be known as very prevalent in the Catholic Church. He was a man of few words and in the 70 years of adulthood he only returned home to see his family twice.

      My mother on the other hand had been raised in a different church, The Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints and she had told me stories of the minister yelling at the congregation about going to hell and she would leave service with a pounding headache. So she was not inclined to go to church either. So there I was, always knowing there was something more, something missing, just couldn’t put my finger on it and then that Easter Sunday 1980 I found myself in church hearing the story of Jesus dying on the cross and rising again. There was no altar call but the Lord met me right where I was and my heart was ready to receive Him. I knew I needed something and there He was. His love flowed over me with such a powerful calm and for the first time in my life I understood what love was. The weight of the world was physically lifted off
