Lovesongs for the Soul: A Spiritual Journey
By Don V. Lax
()
About this ebook
These poetical offerings are spiritual love songs for the soul. They could be received as the universe herself, singing to her daughter, the soul. Emerging from the depths of daily meditation practice, each poem is an expression of that days insight.
It is the heartfelt wish of author Don V. Lax that the words inscribed within this book inspire and encourage the reader on his or her own path of awakening.
A companion CD of original compositions by Don V Lax, to accompany the reading of these poems, is available at:

Don V. Lax
Don V. Lax has been playing music and writing poetry since the age of five. During a childhood spent travelling and living in India, Pakistan, France, Italy, and the United States, he was exposed to and opened by the spiritual traditions of many cultures. Many years of immersion in the deep practices of Tantra, Hinduism, Buddhism, Sufism, and Mystical Christianity have led to a synthesis within himself, culminating over the past fifteen years on Maui with the Diamond Approach of A.H. Almaas. A professional violinist, Don has always shared his musical spirit with the world. He has recorded numerous albums with many great musicians in multiple genres and performed with everything from Middle Eastern musicians to symphony orchestras and major rock bands. The poetry has been a more intimate expression of the heart and soul, shared with close friends, lovers, and family. An exploration of deeper realms of personal and universal spiritual healing, with daily meditation and expression through poetry, has led to the creation of this book.

A breath…
Time and again,
In the space
Diving deeper
In the School of the Sea
My Son
Today
Once,
Curious
The choice has been made
Fearlessly,
Now,
Open and empty;
Lapis Blue
Rooting deep
Deep in the heart
We seem to have lost
Emergent sacred patterns
A quiet calm
Resonant vibratory reality
Carefully, Compassionately
We are witnessing the end
Time now
Lifetimes of dedication
No desire
There seems to be
A gardenia flower
So much gratitude
Just this
What does it mean
Silence.
All that I desire
Infinity
Into the vast, open space
Wonderful stillness:
Let us now
Our Mother,
With finest attention
In a moment
There’s a dark open space
Sometimes,
An old song
What new territory
Shall we
Would you like
Temple bells
Greeting the day
Such a fascinating journey,
A planet
There is a music
The little details
There is no time
Like the Moon,
Open to all
Will you join me
It’s time
In any given moment,
When the world
Where can we find Love today-
We choose
What if
Just how subtle
In what form
Did you ever feel
Turtle teaching today:
What kind of beauty will we find
Amazing to experience
In this body
Exertion
There’s a light
Sometimes Life requires of us
Staying Present
Do you wonder
Please take my hand:
Let’s just stay right here
Love knows no limits,
Random encounters
There’s a quiet place
So curious to discover
The ability to feel
In a vast open space
Find the root
When we fully explore
There’s a music
Do you feel
Moving
So interesting
When every breath
Cherish the light
Let me be
This mind seems to have lost
When the mind
In darkness or light,
At the end of forever
Being in a body,
Sometimes it seems
Everywhere
We’ve chanted
Do you remember
Somehow, it seems
Each day
A single tone
In this life,
Souls know
When the trade winds
Can you
The wind sings
Sing praise
When standing on the precipice
Noting how
Golden glow
Amazing
When the day
This day
Stillness;
Between dream and dreamer,
Falling off the edge
We now declare
On this day,
In the darkest dark
The moon is New
When we bow
This precious moment
Subtle and effortless,
When working with
From heart to hands
Let’s give ourselves
The Goddess Gives us
Gratitude
There’s this new sensation
Without
We can rest now,
Silver the sky,
Breathing in through every pore
Truth
A message arrived
Could we possibly
So fine,
Would you care to join me
Hold gently
How easy it is
Morning sun
Last rays
Quietly sensing
Sit naked on the sand by the sea,
Enter with attention
The absolute
We are being asked to evolve
This humming in our heads,
If we were
A blessing of rain
Into sweet silence
Exploring
If we could
Deep green like velvet moss,
We are all called now
We’re learning
A lake full of galaxies,
These poetic offerings are a spiritual journal of my daily practice in the first half of the year 2013. Meditation, inner and outer cleansing, swimming and bodysurfing in the warm Maui ocean, and playing music every night at The Four Seasons Resort: these are the outward aspects of my life. The poems are reflections of the inner aspects…
It is my sincere wish that this book benefit all sentient beings everywhere.
I wish to dedicate this book of poetry to my family- my mother, Patricia Macaughey Lax, who from early childhood encouraged me to read and write poetry- my father, Morris Henry Lax, who was a brilliant writer, poet and linguist, and my two brothers, David and Peter, without whom I would not be the person I’ve become.
I also bow to my spiritual family- my teachers and friends, and all the spiritual beings past, present and future, who hold space for the continuing evolution of humanity and this wonderful planet.
And, of course, none of this would be possible without the Planet Earth Herself, for whom I devote my entire existence.
May All Beings Be Well,
May All Beings Be Happy,
Peace, Peace, Peace.
A breath…
A dream-
An awakening…
Ahhhhhhhh.
The journey unfolding
In this miraculous moment;
