About this ebook
If house cleaning were an Olympic sport, Stevie Markovich would be in the running for a medal.
Bob Hagerty, The Wall Street Journal
Becoming healthier is not about a gym routine or new health club membership; its about a change of heart and change of attitude toward all physical activities that can be found in every day life. The Aerobic House Cleaning Lifestyle is about helping the overweight get from point A to point Healthier as simply as possible. No weights. No gym. No Spandex. Just real stuff I have been doing since 1995 to stay fit.

Reviews for The Aerobic House Cleaning Lifestyle
1 rating1 review
- Rating: 2 out of 5 stars2/5This book was basically about how to turn house cleaning into aerobic exercise. To that end the author did a fairly good job. There were several good actual fitness tips included throughout and even some detailed explanations of some exercises with photos included. Please note that in the kindle edition the photos were very small and there was no way to make them larger like you can do to the text. One good tip was to clean while wearing a heavy backpack and heavy boots and I can see how that would ramp up your exertion and therefore your energy expenditure.Mr. Markovich was adamant about the importance of good form, most importantly being to “keep your back straight”. Other tips that the author deemed important were to breathe properly and that sweat is your friend. Also included were exercises using household items (presumably after your were done with your actual house cleaning). Those seemed at least somewhat useful as well. What I did not like was the author’s use of the word, “I”. In fact there was way too much unnecessary autobiographical information altogether. It was boring and at times, prideful. He also at times seemed condescending and insulting by using words like “fat” and “lazy”. Even though these words were not directed at anyone in particular it was easy to take them personally and be insulted for yourself or for a loved one.Mr. Markovich also believes the fallacy of eating less and exercising more as the be all end all answer to successful weight loss. Space and context does not permit me to properly debate this but suffice it to say that it IS a fallacy.Lastly, even though I was given this book through a Christian blogging for books program I would not consider this book to be a Christian book. There were some mentions here and there of scripture or of God but they seemed cursory. If you are looking for ways to incorporate more exercise into your normal day that includes house cleaning and you can get past the negatives that I mentioned this may be a worthwhile book to check out, so probably best for Christian stay-at-home-parents who want to add more fitness to their already full schedule.Disclosure of Material Connection: I received this book free from publisher through the Booklookbloggers.com book review bloggers program. TALK WITH YOUR DOCTOR
Be sure to check with your health care professional before starting any lifestyle of physical activity including The Aerobic House Cleaning Lifestyle.
Becoming healthier is like getting a 2nd chance at life. Since 1995 I have been staying healthy simply by eating good foods, avoiding junk foods, getting near-daily physical activities from dusting, vacuuming, pouring a patio, painting, washing a car, hunting, baby-sitting, using furniture as exercise equipment, walking and everything in between.
But what I found is more important than eating right and physical activities, is keeping a positive attitude about staying healthy and relying totally on Jesus Christ to sustain this.
I know, and I mean I REALLY know, that God has a plan for me (and for you too), because I should have been killed in the 1970’s or 1980’s while doing some of the stunningly crazy acts I pulled off. God gave me a 2nd chance over 100 times and still counting. And I have learned how unutterably liberating it is to give my life to God. For those of you who have done this, you know what I mean. So after I am gone, and God asks How did you show your love for all my children?
I can show Him this book.
WHO THIS BOOK IS FOR
1. For those who are already enjoying the benefits of a sustained lifestyle of exercise I hope you find the physical activities in this book a compliment to what exercises you’re already doing. Still, I encourage you to read the first half of the book.
You’ll understand why.
2. For those of you who are overweight and not enjoying some type of lifestyle
which loves and looks for consistent physical activities and good eating habits congratulations! Read all the pages before the Aerobic House Cleaning Lifestyle’s physical activities section—particularly the pages dealing with developing a change of heart about your health and yourself. Based on my own casual research and empirical data, I find that millions of Americans are overweight because they have lost a passion for health, have given up hope, and can’t overcome their addictions to overeating and laziness.
You’ll understand why.
MY SUGGESTIONS ON READING THIS BOOK
The solutions to America’s obesity epidemic are Spiritual, not physical. I’ll encourage you to read this book with this frame of reference. I sense that for those hundreds of millions of Americans who are fat and can’t seem to get in better shape, real success is found in Divine Intervention, and in developing a strong relationship with God—and not a gym membership nor some exercise machine. The relationship comes FIRST.
That said, a fair amount of pages in this book employ short messages from Scripture to help the overweight develop a passion, a good attitude, and a real change of heart about themselves, about eating better and about simple physical activities.
THINK: Americans spend multi billions of dollars on diets, food supplements, gym memberships and health related products and services. Yet obesity has been increasing horrifically since about 1984/1985. Something is missing. That thing may be Faith.
Read this book as if you and your best friend are sharing great stories together. Read it with the mind wide open for the ideas and suggestions. I think you’ll get the most out of the messages this way. And I hope it helps you form your own unique ideas for our own Lifestyle of physical activities and better eating.
You’ll notice that at times and out of nowhere I might interject STORIES
which, at first, may seem unrelated to the current subject matter. Be OK with this, there’s a point to be made and you’ll get it. I know you will.
And you’ll also notice there are no defined chapters. That’s because I prefer to use headings
at the top of the pages to invite you into the thoughts in the content under that heading. Just imagine we’re having a simple conversation over dinner or lunch. Pretend we’re just hanging out.
Want to have a glass of wine or a beer while reading it? Go ahead. I mean, I’ve had a couple of beers writing it, so what the heck.
You’ll also notice that this book is written with grammatical errors.
This is intentional because making the words in this book conform to proper writing structures would diminish the
