About this ebook
J.K. Jones
Hey there, I'm J.K. Jones, a Canadian author who likes her coffee black and loves to write dark M/M romance novels. I grew up in the bustling city of Toronto, and it's given me a bit of a different take on things. I'm just passionate about telling stories that grab your attention. I've been into creative writing for a while, and it's cool how I can naturally put together characters and plots that keep folks hooked. You might have come across my books like "Claw of Exile" and "Weeps Indigo." They're all about diving into the messy parts of love and relationships. I've been hanging out in Toronto for as long as I can remember, just doing my thing and spinning tales. I hope my writing connects with you and adds a little something to the world of dark M/M romance.

The Attic
It’s terrible being nine and an only child. Ricky,
a voice from downstairs called. It’s time to go
,
Mom, can I stay home? I’ll clean my room. You know you have been hounding me for a whole week to get it done!!
Richard Matthew Lewis!! Get down here right this instant! You know you can’t stay home alone. Now let’s go.
Mom insisted.
I clamored down the stairs trying to make as much noise as possible. Mom, you know I drive Aunt Harriet crazy with all of my racket. Besides, there is nothing to do there. It is soooo boring, and she is soooo old.
I whined.
That’s enough, Ricky. She will be happy to have company." Mom replied. I followed her out of the house to get into the car complaining all the way, but no use. I could tell by the look on her face that I was destined to see Aunt Harriett. As we drove out of the drive, I glanced back with despair, thinking about all of the things I would have done home alone.
It wasn’t long until we pulled up at Aunt Harriett’s house. Even her house looks so gray and old that it probably creeks as you walk through it. Boy, this is going to be a blast,
I muttered to myself. Last time we were here, she talked so much I fell asleep.
We walked up to the door and mom knocked. Aunt Harriett came to the door. She smiled at mom and looked at me with a frown. Her eyes were saying, Not him again.
She started to say hello, but barely a whisper came out. Sweet, she has lost her voice. She motioned for us to come inside. We walked inside and found the place a mess. She tried to explain how sick she had been and apologized for the way the house looked. Of course mom immediately told her we would be glad to help. I quickly caught my Mom’s eyes with a look of disgust on my face. I don’t like to clean my own room, certainly not someone else’s house. Before I could let out a sound of complaint, Mom told me my job would be to straighten up and clean the attic. With sudden relief on my face, I ran to pull down the steps leading upstairs. At least I could explore Aunt Harriett’s old junk while they worked on the house. I reached up to the rope hanging from the ceiling so I could pull down the steps. Creeeeak.
Just as I thought, this place is about to fall apart.
As I climbed up the stairs, my mind was already thinking about what I might find. I started moving boxes to one side of the attic. There were a lot of old chairs, boxes with old clothes, and this really cool old looking trunk. I bet this used to belong to my Uncle Fred. Both Uncle Fred and Aunt Harriett used to travel all over the world looking for antiques. He used to tell such really far out stories about his trips. How he
