This book is dedicated to all the people I have known along the road.
Mum, for love, life and beauty – I miss you every day.
Dad, for the wisdom and realisation of life past and now – I miss you so much.
Karen, for your strength and determination.
Mar, por permitirme nadar en tu hermoso mar de vida, amor y pasión. La luna en Granada brilla dos veces más radiente cuando tú estas conmigo.
John and Cheryl for being there when the world fell.
To all of my friends for enabling me to breathe when I had forgotten how. Know that you have my eternal gratitude for the love, laughter and tears we have shared on our journeys.
Nothing or no one is ever forgotten.
New Beginning
A face so pained
Watching the winds in the desert.
Eyes wide
Blinded by the castle of your mind
And I’ll watch you as you watch them
Eyes closed
Closed as your arrogant self
The candle flame flickers as I pass
The wine I drink burns as it falls
This time I think I couldn’t care
If you let it grow or cut your hair
I don’t feel I’m here with you now
I don’t think I’m here at all
Falling again when the autumn comes,
Your face dried by desert winds
And I’ll dance softly over you
Scream in song
Bathe in it all
Mask gone
I’ll find another
Time to turn away
I can’t forget yesterday
Just because there’s tomorrow
I wouldn’t notice you turning away
I feel better in sorrow
Better than I feel today
The bell tolls
A final ring
I forget you
A new beginning
You make it sound so easy
New beginning
You make it sound so easy
Time I turned away
The Caves of Guadix
Tonight the stars shone for us
Tonight the crickets sang
Tonight we swam in the ocean of love
And I can die in peace tonight
With the love of my life by my side.
Tonight I’ve known perfect moments
Tonight the angels sang
Tonight we swam in innocent dreams
And I can lie alone with her
