Leave The Past Behind - Amberlynn Kelch
Dedication
This book is dedicated to my Mom, who always believed in me and taught me how to be the strong woman I am today. Without here I could never have done this. Mom thank you for showing me the beautiful things in life and know this, I love you.
CHAPTER ONE
My vision started to fade as the air dissipated from my lungs, I could not breathe. My head started to feel light I felt myself slowly slipping away. I began to close my eyes and drift into the nothingness that lay behind my eyelids. Something held my head in place it was tangled in my hair giving a pull and lifting my head from the nothingness. I let out a gasp as I crumble to the floor water dripping off of my face and drenched hair.
YOU COULD HAVE KILLED HER!
I heard my Mother yell at the top of her lungs.
If you don’t shut your Fucking mouth, I will make you wish you had!
I saw my father raise his hand to my Mother, my vision still blurred. I saw my Mother flinch expecting to be hit.
I took his arm afraid of my father hurting her, Dad, stop! You don’t want the police to be called.
I bit my lip afraid of his wrath to be turned on me. My Father put down his arm, his face was still red and the vanes in his neck popping out.
Have you confessed to the lord your sins? Otherwise, you will need another dunk in the bath water.
My father ran his hands throw my hair he then gripped my hair in his hand tight. It pulled at my skull it hurt like hell. I was afraid of being dunked again. I always wanted to just run away and never come back, but I knew if I left he would surely he would kill my Mother and hunt me down and kill me as well.
Yes, sir I have confessed all I have done wrong, God has forgiven me for what I have done.
I still did not know what I had done, but if I confessed he would be happy till the next time something happened to make him angry. He was a ticking bomb that would blow at any time.
My father looked at me and grinned like he was pleased with himself, That is my Abia, now you have school, get into bed.
My father unraveled his fingers from my hair. He walked to the closet that held our linens and tossed a towel at my head. I wrapped my sore head walking out of the bathroom. I felt so alone in my home, I oddly looked forward to school every morning.
I always hated when summer started, I was then trapped at home with my family. My Father was getting worse with his temper and I was always the target of his anger. I wish I could find friends who would not go running to their parents and have them tell my Father what I have done. I could not trust the girls who go to my church. I thank God every day none of them go to my school. I threw on my long nightgown and I crawled into my warm cushy bed closing my eyes wishing the next day would come fast so I could forget the nightmare of today.
♥♥♥
I woke up at the crack of dawn, my father and mother would still be sound asleep. I got myself ready for school. My stomach growled I tiptoed into the kitchen grabbing a granola bar. I opened the door the cold air blowing into my face, it was the starting of a warm day. I shoved the bar in my mouth as I closed the door and ran to the bus stop.
I ate as I waited for the school bus. The sun began to rise casting shadows of flowers of the house across the street looked so nice, I wanted to just take
