The book In the world of spells
contains five stories in which the main characters are heroes who struggle with evil forces (dragons, witches, fairies and other monstrous creatures), being victorious in the end and managing to save their friends who trusted them, helping them return to their human forms.

In a small town at the foot of mountains, there once lived a merchant whose wife had passed away a long time ago. He had a beautiful cottage with a large garden and a field sown with oats and barley. From spring until autumn, the oats rose from the ground, green and healthy, and the merchant guarded it as the apple of his eye, because the oats brought him a great deal of money.
Everything was going well until one year, in summer, when the man noticed that his crops were becoming fewer and fewer for they were halved, torn and eaten, or even stolen.
‘Oh Lord, how is that possible? I am left without oats, therefore without money and food for the rest of the year! How shall I feed my children, if we are all going to die of starvation?’
The merchant had four big, handsome, sturdy, but very lazy boys, who did nothing all day, waiting for their father to provide them with money, food and clothing.
‘Wake up, you lazy bones! You sleep while our oats have completely disappeared from the garden. It was probably stolen by one of the neighbors and we are as poor as church mice!’
‘How could such a thing happen, father?’ the youngest child asked, who was the smartest of them all, even though he was the smallest, weakest and most fragile, and it was rumored that he was also the most stupid of them all.
