About this ebook
This book, MAHA SHIVARATRI, the second in the series, Indian Festivals, describes the glory of Lord Shiva and how the festival is celebrated all over India.
Festivals are an integral part of a society, be it in any country. They are an expressive way to celebrate the glorious culture, heritage and traditions.
The author, Lalitha Chittoor, was looking for a book to read to her 4 year-old daughter about this festival and she could not find one. Hence she conceived the idea of writing a series of books on Indian Festivals, primarily for kids, with lots of colorful pictures that exudes the sheer excitement, fervor, happiness and fun of the festival. This would also serve as a great source of introductory information for the kids and adults alike, of all nationalities about Lord Shiva and the festival Maha Shivaratri. This book also has an Endnotes section with meanings and additional information for some complex words. The Department of Tourism, India was very helpful in providing some accurate information regarding the festivals.
