Austin began writing for real around the age of forty, a respite from working as an Information Engineer in the field of Computer Science, doing programming, an art, as it turned out. He calls himself a humanist, and is one who enjoys the liberal arts, utilizing science, for it pervades every discipline. Introduction
So it turns that I had one more Rubaiyat left in me, as a last hurrah, for the astronomer-poet, Omar Khayyam, in which we look in on him to celebrate his grand and timeless endeavors and philosophies. I’ve used up all of my art compositions, and so this may be my swan song.
The writer’s pen stood forth, being first,
Instructing the artist’s stylus
To illustrate the words of the epic,
Since a picture was worth a thousand words.
"Perhaps we don’t even need the words",
Retorted the artist’s stylus,
"As I am worth so many".
Well,
replied the writer’s pen,
"It’s true that many people now refuse
To read books without lots of pictures in them."
"How sad, for I guess some words
Are needed to round out the tale."
