God, The Universe and Me - Laura Berry
INTRODUCTION
Here in lies personal experiences, thoughts and theories based off my own research and investigations into the possibility that a loving God exists and created the known universe.
I am not a scientist nor am I religious although I have done some research into scientific and religious matters my stance is one of a spiritual and philosophical nature with the desire to do personal experiments to prove to myself what the truth is, one thread at a time, in order to weave the greater tapestry of truth that has been laid before each one of us to personally discover if we so wish.
I encourage all who read this book to personally experiment and to find out if a loving God exists or not for themselves. We can wait for others to prove truth to us or we can actively and more quickly find answers for ourselves by engaging an inquisitive and investigative heart and seeking our own personal experiences.
For the most profound truth is felt in the heart not the mind alone. I hope this book helps you on your journey.
GOD’S DESIGN
Chance Versus Design
One of the strong beliefs held by many is that the universe happened by chance. Most of us believe this is a likely possibility and have been taught this view even in school and throughout education. I also believed this was a likely possibility and that if you have a mixing bowl of ingredients, depending on what components, order, amount and motion is applied, that eventually you will make a good cake. This didn’t sit right with me in my gut. Everything seemed too ordered to have come about through chaos and chance. Everything seemed to have a job to do from the largest living system to the smallest. If chance really did create our universe then we truly are one in a trillion.
This theory of chance also excluded the emotional expression and experience I found in my fellow man. Where did that come from? This chaotic theory felt too mechanical to explain my existence and the emotions I felt as a result of being created through this random proposed process.
I started to become aware that I am not just a physical being and that there is more to me than that. That science so far hasn’t been able to explain or has little desire to explore. I realised that right now I wouldn’t get many answers from science so I started looking into questions on my own and going towards those things that weren’t taught to us in school or weren’t common belief systems because if I didn’t have the truth with what I currently knew then it must be somewhere else. I started to seek answers for myself.
It seemed to me that there were two possible answers to my existence upon reflection. One was that we were here by chance and two that we may have been created by something beyond our current understanding. A higher energy or entity could explain the questions I still had. The only way to find out was to go there and explore.
Every night I would look at the stars and wonder about this. My heart pulled me to a spiritual place where I felt full of emotion and wonder every time I saw those sparkling suns in the distance. I would talk to the universe as if it were my friend and could somehow guide, help and answer me and my questions. This felt so natural to me. My mind would then kick in and intellectualise the physical nature of the universe. That I was only talking to a star, a sun, a physical object. The mechanical and physical belief systems I had been taught throughout childhood and through education would surface. I had a
