Believing the God That Believes in You - Toby Bryant

INTRODUCTION
As a child growing up in the heart of the Bible-belt,
in southern Mississippi, my earliest memories include being taught the necessity to believe in God. It seemed that the question of whether or not there was a God was a concept few of us even contemplated back then. He just was! Well, praise God, I am more certain now than ever before, that He still is!
While I am deeply thankful for the reality of God that was instilled in me as a child, somehow I missed out on, or simply just didn’t comprehend, an equally important truth: "the God that required me to believe in Him, believes in me too!" One of the most gratifying and heart-warming revelations that people can receive from our Lord Jesus Christ is this very fact. When we know God believes in us, it births an expectation of triumph within us that the world cannot extinguish. When we understand that our loving Savior is consumed with developing our potential and showing forth God’s glory through us, a deeper sense of appreciation is fueled within us. When we do not understand this, we are reduced to trying to please a God that only seems interested in our sacrifices and good behavior. When God, in our perception, is reduced to being a critic of our piety, we miss the most wonderful part of who He is, a doting, proud Father!
In the following chapters, I pray that God will reveal His character to you as I reveal seven powerful principles he has taught me through the years.

Allowing God To Enjoy Us Is
What Empowers Us!
The Lord thy God in the midst of thee is mighty; He will save, He will rejoice over thee with joy; He will rest in His love, He will joy over thee with singing.
Zephaniah 3:17
Just like it was yesterday, I remember the day my daughter was born. I was stationed at Ft. Hood, Texas while serving in the U.S. Army’s 6th Cavalry Brigade. Huaa! It was a beautiful spring morning and we knew that this was the day, since my wife Mary was to have the baby by C-section. I had the pleasure of being in the delivery room during the delivery and I will never forget the first time I saw this child of my own. Beautiful does not describe her, she was
