Tracey is a stay at home wife and mother who has lived all over the United States. She is currently living in northern Indiana with her husband of nearly twenty years, their 15 year old daughter and two hairballs of the canine variety.
She is an avid reader with an insatiable appetite, surpassed only by her child, to whom she has passed on the reader trait.
She is a self-taught amateur shutterbug and although she has been writing for the majority of her adult life, she only recently put both words and pictures out there for the world to see.
Deep below me
An echoing rhythm
Nature’s heart beat
Her spirit fills me
No man made bed
Nor broken roots
Can confine me
They do not limit me
Family comes to visit
People from all walks
Some old, some young
Lay their hands upon me
Until my once rough skin
Is smoothed and polished
Though I’ve no ears
I hear them talk to me
Telling me their dreams
Their visions, their hopes
Their worries and joys
Secrets small and large
Leaving their worst
And their best
With me to carry
Binding us for an eternity
I hold their truths
A silent keeper
A limitless vault
A labor of love
Their tears nourish me
Divine rain
Soaking into my very heart
Renewing me
So that I can carry on
Keeping secrets safe
Their words flow over me
Sometimes a flood
Sometimes a trickle
Others a small stream
Images painted in words
Giving colors, bright and vivid
Shining like the sun
To these old, blind eyes
Showing me pieces of the world
That only they have seen
Though I’ve no arms
To reach out and pull them in
I embrace all who come
Hold their spirit safe
Nurtured at my deepest roots
Shared with mother nature
Her love healing
Her spirit multiplying
Giving all so that I can continue
Giving back full measure
Of all given in trust to me
Closing their eyes
They open their hearts
Freeing their minds
Feeling the strength
The earth’s spirit shared
Healing wounds soul deep
They present small gifts
Draping my bare branches
Tokens left behind
Shared gratitude
Adornments more beautiful
More precious
Than any former leaf or flower
Pieces of their history
Now shared with me
Granting me dreams
Light filled visions
During the dark nights
It’s been so long
Since anyone last came
My roots are dried up
My skin rough and cold
I hold tight to my memories
I revisit the old stories
And dream the old dreams
Not as vivid now
The colors are faded
The details blurred
The days darker
The nights longer
My world grows smaller
Each passing season
A new day is dawning
The rising of the summer sun
Warming me with its rays
A new spirit touches me
Burning away the cold
Heating my core
Tiny hands like new growth
Bright, shining
Sparkling with life
Filling me with wonder
As new spirit touches old
Childhood fantasies shared
Small voice whispers a new story
A new dream emerging
Wrapped in dancing colors
Moving to a new song
Adding notes and steps
To the stories I already keep
Rebirth and growth
Filling my spirit again
