About this ebook
Homes and Businesses have discovered the convenience of using computers to control the pesky details of daily life. Why not, wouldn't you rather stay seated and ask the computer to turn up the temperature instead? Unfortunately, some who buy into the convenience cut corners by not using a dedicated computer. As a result the house/business computer is open for the world to see. Chaos reigns when a hacker utilizes the opening to terrorize the occupants.
Police are called to an upscale residential neighbourhood to investigate the deaths of two occupants. They are baffled. No forced entry, no foreign fingerprints or DNA. Nothing to indicate there was anyone else in the house.
Weeks later, police respond to a business in downtown. One person dead and one obviously traumatized. The survivor's account makes no sense and is attributed to a cracked mind. Only one thing makes the incident into more. Someone was watching. Only the reports are buried until a young officer assigned to the evidence room finds and follows up on the anomaly.

Hackers Wild
Chapter 1
"Ahh…here we go. Magnetic locks… perfect. Shatter proof glass–better and better. State of the art electronic coverage with internal and external cameras with remote positioning. Ohh! be still my heart."
Sporadic typing was audible as more information on 21 Colbert drive was called up.
"This is even better than I thought possible."
Muffled laughter escapes as the hacker gained control of the computer that the residents of 21 Colbert drive had set up to run the house.
"Toys of the rich are oh so fun. Now lets see what kind of havoc we can wreak."
After a bit of exploring, the hacker gained control of the internal cameras and proceeded to check out the residence.
"Two bedrooms, two bathrooms–too bad they aren’t wired for video–a living room, an office, and one enormous kitchen."
"Look at the décor; have to be rich to afford antiques…isn’t that a Tiffany lamp I see there? Let’s just zoom in a little…. Yep! Thought so. Didn’t see anyone home. Any cars in the garage? Nope. Good, no one’s home. So let’s see what else we can control."
Placing the video feed from the garage and the driveway in the upper corner, the hacker began checking out the other controls.
"Oh. Look! Blinds open, blinds closed…cool. Lights on, lights off; doors locked, doors unlocked; temperature up, temperature down; vents closed, vents opened; stove on, stove off…this is so much fun. I can even control the smoke detectors and telephone. Lets just tap into the phone shall we?"
Movement on the driveway camera caught the hacker’s eye. A black Mercedes S class was pulling up. The garage door slowly opened. The Mercedes drove in and parked on the right side of the two-car garage. Out stepped a striking blond. She leaned in and popped the trunk. From it, she took out a number of bags from high-end boutiques.
"From the pictures I saw while checking out the house, I would guess that this must be the wife. I wonder when hubby will be getting home."
A ringing of the telephone could be heard at 21 Colbert drive. On the second ring, the blond answered.
Hello?
Hi sweetie. How was your day?
I found the most adorable sweater and this absolutely perfect black number I think you’ll like. I’ll show you tonight when you get home.
Ahh…that’s why I’m calling sweetie; a slight change of plans. Another meeting. I’ll have to catch a flight tomorrow instead.
Tomorrow? But I had big plans for tonight. Now what will I do?
Sorry…how about we postpone those plans for tomorrow night? I’ll make it up to you.
Really, what did you buy me?
It’s a surprise. I’m sure you’ll love it. I’ve got to go or I’ll be late for my meeting. See you tomorrow.
But….
The phone clicked off and the hacker watched the blond throw a fit. Her arms flew into the air the bag remaining in her hand slams against the wall and an ear splitting scream shatters the calm of 21 Colbert Drive. After calming herself down the blonde reached for the phone.
After the second ring, a deep-voiced man answered the phone.
Hello.
Hello Lover. Why don’t you come and keep me company?
What about Roger?
Fuck Roger. He just phoned and said he wouldn’t be back till tomorrow. Says he had a last minute meeting. Meeting my ass!
Now, now Sophie. At least it gives us a chance to get in some quality time.
Mmmm…. You’re so right. I have this little black number I’m just dying to try out. How about it Lover.
Can you give me a couple of hours? I have to make sure the wife is occupied.
Sure babe, but don’t be too long. I might have to start without you.
Ah, I’ll see what I can do.
The hacker couldn’t believe it. The hubby was out of the picture but a lover was even better.
"What to do? What to do? Should I toy with them? Maybe record their tryst and email it to the hubby? Or maybe publish it on the net…oh so many options."
The wife, Sophie, grabbed the bags she had left in the hall and took them to the master bedroom where she began to put away her purchases. She placed the little black number on the bed and went into the bathroom. From the sounds, the hacker deduced that she was running a bath. Once the water was turned off, the hacker heard Sophie getting into the tub. After a while, she began to sing a little off key.
"Well, this is boring. Maybe I’ll spook her a bit. Let’s see what can I do. I know…I’ll turn the lights out in the bathroom."
The hacker turned off the lights in the bathroom and heard Sophie shriek. There was the sounds of water sloshing around and of a person slipping. Then a cursing Sophie found the light switch and turned it on.
"Boy, I wish I could see her face. The expression must be hilarious. I wonder what else in the bathroom I can play with."
After a bit of searching, the hacker discovered that the computer could also turn on the exhaust fan and that the bathroom had music speakers built in. While the hacker was determining what other controls were accessible, Sophie could be heard getting back into the bath. The hacker waited until she resumed her rather off key singing and decided to help her along with a bit of music.
"Oh look! They have a nice selection of rock here. I’ll just make sure the volume is nice and loud. Now… one, two, three, go…."
Hard, loud rock could be heard blasting from the bathroom and, a very short time later, a scream could be heard. Once again, Sophie could be heard jumping out of the bathtub and slipping on the spilled water. Within seconds, a dripping wet, naked Sophie came running out of the bathroom holding her elbow like she had recently hurt it. Sophie found the music controls and turned it off.
Laughter was quickly overcoming the hacker as the scene unfolded on the computer. Sophie was demonstratively livid. She grabbed a robe and a pistol from the nightstand and proceeded slowly with great care through every room of the house. Finding the doors and windows closed and locked, Sophie returned to the master bedroom. It was noticeable that she was pale and seemed reluctant to go into the bathroom. Deciding her bath was finished, she pushed herself to go in and take what she needed from the bathroom to get ready for her date.
The hacker decided not to play with Sophie any further. If she was too spooked, she might leave. As it was, she was avoiding the bathroom. Chuckling, the hacker sat back to watch the show and wait for the lover to appear.
Chapter 2
The peaceful neighbourhood of 21 Colbert Drive was shattered. The whispers said that there had been a murder. More whispers said that the Mrs had been killed and a man, who was not her husband, too. The police were said to suspect the husband, but how could that be as he was out of town on business? The media though could only report that two people were found dead under suspicious circumstances and that the police were following leads. The deaths were later reported as accidental and the case was closed.
The hacker laughed at each report and the whispers. Only the hacker knew that the deaths at 21 Colbert Drive had not been accidental. Reminiscing, the hacker recalled the details.
The lover had arrived at the house not long after Sophie finished her bath. But Sophie had been spooked more than the hacker realized. The lover, who had parked his GMC pickup in the garage, had barely gotten a kiss in when Sophie began telling him that the house was haunted. Rob, for that is what Sophie had called him, tried to calm her down and took a look around. Sophie had followed him like a frightened child screaming that they had to get out of the house. It wasn’t safe.
The hacker hadn’t wanted to loose this quarry so had engaged the magnetic locks on the doors. They wouldn’t be able to get out. Only the computer and the alarm company could disengage the magnetic locks. Since the hacker had taken care of the alarm, the company wouldn’t know anything was wrong. In addition, the hacker had disabled the telephone and smoke detectors.
Surprisingly, after Rob had ensured that there wasn’t anyone in the house he had managed to calm Sophie down. The two had rekindled the lust that had brought them together and began consuming a bottle of wine in the process. When Rob had attempted to leave, he had been unable to open the garage door. When Sophie tried, she too was
