    While trying to protect her inheritance from her brutal husband, Rachael Summerfield becomes embroiled in an ancient British Charter and agrees to imposter herself as the heir to Torrval Castle in the Scottish Highlands. When she meets the resident Keeper of the Horse, Brody Lachlan, who has promised to tend and keep her safe. She falls hopelessly in love with him and is torn by her need to find happiness in her life and her need to obey her family beliefs that marriage is forever. While trying to find the truth of her past, Rachael discovers Brody has a mortal but no legal right to the castle, and she searches for and finds long hidden family secrets that reveal her parents have betrayed her all her life. When Brody reveals he has loved her from a distance for a long time but cannot commit to his love of her, Rachael finds Brody has secrets of his own which jeopardises the safety of the almost extinct Destriers that he breeds. Feeling trapped by the ancient Charter and bound to Torrval forever, Rachael alone must ensure the safety of the Destriers, the future of the estate’s crofters and the reason for Brody Lachlan to exist.

    Perth author Helen Iles is a horse breaker and trainer when not writing prose or poetry. Many of these poems were composed from her personal experiences as a horse rider and trainer over many years and during her travels through the outback. In this collection of poems The Horse From Ethel Creek was awarded the ABC's State Country Session Poetry Prize; The Breaker's Walk received a highly commended certificate at the Grenfell Henry Lawson Festival of Arts; Any Place received a Commended Award in the Ethel Webb Bundell Literary Awards and Kimberley Dream gained a Special Mention in the Bronze Quill SWW-WA Awards.
