About this ebook

Can a friendship that lasts just an hour be completely perfect?

A year ago, Annie and Bree were best friends, then they graduated high school and it turns out a year is a long time.

When Annie shows up at her best friend's birthday hoping to slip back into the friendship that was, she discovers she's no longer a part of Bree's world and decides to slip out quietly without making a scene.

But a chance encounter on the way out means that sometimes you can find friendship when you least expect it.

Author

Sarah Billington

Sarah Billington is an Australian writer and editor who likes to write stories with love, laughs, suspense and zombies. Sometimes all in the same story. Her favouritest thing to write about are those horrendously awkward moments that come with being a teenager. Or a human being. Sarah was extremely accident-prone and klutzy as a kid and teen, so her cup runneth over with experiences of horrendously awkward moments to draw from in her writing. Thankfully, she has grown out of her klutziness. Mostly. She is, however, still an embarrassment. She loves a variety of random things, which include Swing Dancing, Ice Hockey, Roller Derby and is a bit obsessive about paranormal investigation shows and channel E!.

Bree had nodded and turned her attention to the guy in the cardigan with the five o’clock shadow and thick brown hair that swept over one eye. I placed my drink on the table, slid in with my present for my bestie’s twenty-first birthday and waited happily, excited for her to join me so that we could catch up, make up for lost time and rekindle our friendship.

I watched as Bree laughed and rubbed her cheeks, complaining that his stubble was scratchy. Her new boyfriend (who she hadn’t even told me existed), rubbed her shoulders and shook hands with this Sky person, before nuzzling Bree’s neck and making her giggle. Someone handed out shot glasses and the whole lot of them slammed tequila and started talking about the
