Kahlil Gibran

Khalil Gibran (1883–1931) was an essayist, novelist, and mystic poet. He wrote The Prophet, a collection of philosophical essays that went on to become one of the bestselling books of the twentieth century. Though he was born in Lebanon, he moved to Boston’s South End as a child and studied art with Auguste Rodin in Paris for two years before launching his literary career. Much of Gibran’s work contains themes of religion and Christianity as well as spiritual love.

The Prophet's main character is named Almustafa, the setting is he has been away from home 12 years and he is about to broad a ship to take him home, when he is stopped by a group of people, and he discusses topics that have to do with the human condition.

Too many gems in this book to name. I can read this book a hundred times over and never get sick of the messages. I've read this at difference points in my life, with different perspectives and something always resonates a little differently. Rare to find a book like this.

Most powerful book ever written! I buy a copy for every new person I meet! Buy it, read it, highlight it, and read it again - it's like a new book with each read.

It was a great little book. The pages weren't too thin like another had written, that you can see through the paper. It was the perfect little additional gift to give to a friend. I would purchase more.

This isn’t the version of The Prophet I remember. I read it in 5th or 6th grade (not in school obviously) but was deeply moved by it when I read it.
