About this audiobook

Nerd Queen, Aliya Grey, has been picked on her entire life for being different. She is done with shifter society. When the chance comes to leave the pack, she jumps for joy. But she didn’t expect that during the exchange of power ceremony, the super-hot and totally lickable, incoming Alpha would tell her he wants her. That doesn’t happen to Ali. Nope. Never.

Marcus and his wolf know Aliya is the one. Giving up his playboy lifestyle attests to how badly he wants her. Ali might be a half-breed, but that doesn’t matter. No way is he letting her leave. A little stalking, a bit of seduction and a whole lot of time together will get her to change her mind. He’s confident.

Unfortunately, it’s not as simple as romancing her. Ali’s done with the pack from hell and no matter how sexy Marcus is, she’s out of there. But first she needs to see him naked. He’s so big and strong and that grin…but she’s not staying. It takes an attack on Ali’s life for Marcus to see his pack has big issues he needs to fix or lose Ali for good.

I normally enjoy this author. They are pretty light books. They aren’t deep. Plot is not complex. Characters are a little underdeveloped, but they are cute and sweet. They are usually just an easy way to fill a few hours to put you in a good mood without having to think too hard about it.

This one, however, needs a Trigger Warning, and I am pretty bothered by the lack of it, as I would have avoided it. The heroine is the victim of bullying, hate crimes and repeated sexual assaults. The family that we are told are “so great” and “such good parents” minimize everything she is put through and all the people in power gaslight her through the constant abuse. The alpha minimizes it all until he literally sees it with his own eyes. And Allie has been so mistreated and fears retribution so much that when she should have spoken up, she doesn’t. And basically everyone in this book is stupid, pathetic or evil. The “alpha” couldn’t be less alpha-like. Plus, he was an absolute pig about sleeping around even though he knew the girls weren’t his mate and also knowing that no one ever said “no” to him because he was the alpha’s son. Which means he used girls who didn’t feel they could say no. After he realizes Ali is his mate, he stops screwing other girls, and realizes he was really immature before. (Newsflash: he is still immature).

    SPOILERS:

I really didn’t understand why Alli could stand her parents after they failed to protect her. I didn’t understand why Alli chose to remain in a pack that was nothing but Trauma for her, and I was super disgusted that the answer to the pack’s racism against half breeds was to have Alli shift. Which basically just said “sure, go ahead and hate humans, but she’s not “really” human so it’s all fine!” Allie should have left that pack forever and Marcus should have followed. Just reading the constant abuse she faced and would continue to face made me feel sick. It was so sad. And definitely didn’t give me the normal feeling of happiness I get from this author. I will still read her other books, but this one was pretty disappointing.

I was throughly enjoying this story then came the sex scene straight from a porno. The story was reasonable good. It was almost like two people wrote this.

Great story! Love the character build and how she over came the discrimination and even fought the main people that had bullied her for most of her life. Although a paranormal fantasy sorry it is very much relatable to today.

Was a pretty cute little story The narrator did a really good job The only complaint I have is that for some reason a couple of times a chapter repeated itself I have no clue why but other than that I thought it was a cute little story

The main character was lovely, she strong, funny, and loyal... But her love interest left a lot to be desired. He's a typical "bro" dude. I felt like it didn't make sense for her to trust him so quickly after all she had been through in her past. I wish the book was longer so the characters could be flushed out more. For me this is a two and a half star book.
