About this audiobook

‘A complete page-turner and an emotional rollercoaster. Tissues will be required’ Sinead Moriarty ‘A wonderfully life-affirming book…Carmel Harrington writes with such honesty’ New York Times bestselling author, Hazel Gaynor

On a leafy suburban street in Dublin, beautiful, poised Stella Greene lives with her successful husband, Matt. The perfect couple in every way, Stella appears to have it all. Next door, at number 72 however, lives Rea Brady. Gruff, bad-tempered and rarely seen besides the twitching of her net curtains, rumour has it she’s lost it all…including her marbles if you believe the neighbourhood gossip.

But appearances can be deceiving and when Stella and Rea’s worlds collide they realise they have much in common. Both are trapped in a prison of their own making.

Has help been next door without them realising it?

With the warmth and wit of Maeve Binchy and the secrets and twists of Liane Moriarty, this is the utterly original and compelling new novel from Irish Times bestseller Carmel Harrington.

Praise for The Woman at 72 Derry Lane:

‘I both cried and laughed…one of the best books I have ever read’ Woman’s Way

‘Both heart-wrenching and uplifting. The perfect summer read’ Irish Times Bestseller Fionnuala Kearney

What our readers think

Readers find this title to be a great marriage of well-crafted story and narration. It is a story about empowerment and strong friendships, with lots of relevant topics and a solid storyline throughout. The book is wonderfully written and keeps readers engaged the whole time. The narration is excellent and includes some very funny interludes. While some readers felt that the Tsunami parts of the story were a bit dragged out, overall it is a fabulous and heart-wrenching storyline that will make you cry.

I enjoyed this book a lot, because once upon a time, I was Stella, and I can relate to how this character felt. This story is about empowerment, not only for Stella but for Rea too. I must say though, I really didn't get the Tsunami parts of the story until the end of the book, and I felt that it sometimes was a bit dragged out, but it still is a great story and I look forward to listening to more books from this author!

It was based on a true life event. The boxing day tsunami we will never forget. I enjoyed reading about friendship and of course a happy ending was great.

A wonderful story and the narrator was very engaging. I did enjoy it. It was also a little slow in parts and a bit predictable. Still, a good read.
